time for some long awaited updates...hahaz...v busy with camp stuff during these 2 weeks! hahaz...

had an outing with sora ppl on the 21st...had dinner at 1 little known restaurant along circular road before heading to minds cafe for some games! hahaz...for this outing...audrey, tony, chi yuan, shiqi, enqi, gerard, yonglai, shengqi, andy and i was there...tho it was quite hard to find games for 10 person...but the few that we played was quite fun! hahaz...played there until ard 11 plus before we left so that we could all catch the last bus or the last train...hahaz...

sports camp coming up...think will be super busy and i foresee a bad throat for me! hahaz...

just back from my 5-day trip to gunung stong in kelantan...and boy am i aching and sore from the trip! hahaz...shall try to recap my trip here...bear with me...gonna be a long a wordy entry...but i promise photos! =)

day 1
met up with the rest of my group @ marsiling mrt to do some shopping @ the ntuc near the station...but most of us were late...=P...well...in the end we all managed to finish our shopping and meet up with the rest of the trek @ kranji mrt @ 1545 before taking 170 to the checkpoint...hahaz...

after clearing the customs...we all headed to city square @ near the checkpoint for dinner and stuff while waiting for our train @ 1900...went to buy a book to kill boredom during the 10-hr train ride to dabong, kelantan...so better be prepared...hahaz...after that joined back with the comm people @ secret recipe...the banana choc cake there is much cheaper than in singapore lar! each slice is abt...S$3? hahaz...add that with a bowl of oyster mee sua...that settled my dinner...hahaz...

after gathering in the middle of the shopping mall...we all proceeded to the train station to wait for our train...this may sound sua ku...but it is my first time taking the ktm train! hahaz...when it finally arrives...we boarded and went to our carriage which is the sleeping carriage...quite ok larz...chatted away with a group of the other trekkers and then went off to bed...and that concludes day 1...=)

day 2
woke up @ 0600 and had some time to wash up and change up before arriving in dabong...had a simple nasi lemak breakfast there and prep-ed our daypack for caving in the morning...soon our guides arrived and brought us to 3 local caves...called gua gelap, gua keris and gua pagar...the first was a very very dark cave which is so dark that when you stretch out your hands you cant see it...then gua keris had a large limestone structure that looked like a keris...well the caving was quite an experience...craving thru caves...finding bats and getting leach bites...hahaz...

returned back to dabong for lunch before making our way to the local semi-abandoned resort @ the foot of gunung stong...but along the way...it started to rain and it really dampened the spirits...took shelter for a while from the rain before proceeding when the rain is lighter...it was a 2 hr trek up from the resort to the base camp set up for the locals there...quite a nice place at the top of a water fall...the river there would provide us with the water needed for our bathing and cooking...hahaz...

quickly pitched our tents and went down to the river to bathe...it was cold...real cold...hahaz...imagine bathing at the top of a waterfall...quite an experience really! then started to cook dinner...had vermont curry with noodles...popcorn and seaweed chicken as well as mushroom pottage...however midway thru the cooking...the sky started to pour again...and all 3 tents pitched by everyone had very bad waterproof-ing problems...shun hua and i tried to remedy our tent...but halfway thru was called back to the shelter for a briefing by soon kiat and geraldine...so the final arrangement was that the comm rented 2 huts from the base camp people for the girls to sleep in...the rest would sleep on the outside...after that...shun hua and i returned back to our tent for rescue operation...amazingly...shun hua realised that unhooking the tent from the frame at certain pts can solve the prob...and our tent was saved! hahaz...in the end...me shun hua and zhan jiang slept in the tent...while the rest of the comm people slept @ the shelter to jaga the bags...

day 3
woke up @ 0645 in hope of catching the sunrise...but think a little too late...cos the sky already quite bright liaoz...hahaz...then it was very very misty...but the view from the top of the water fall was still amazing...hahaz...brushed our teeth and went to make breakfast...which was french toast! hahaz...

prep-ed our daypacks for a while before we were off for our summit trek...it would be a 4+ hrs trek up and a 4 hrs trek down...we carried our lunch on the go...which for me was 2 milo energy bars...hahaz...carried 2 litres of water...the trek up was quite a challenge...with long stretches of never-ending ascends and climbing on slippery slopes and rock surfaces...hahaz...but got shun hua and geraldine who were trekking with me and we crapped and did some random dj-ing...quite fun...

there were also long stretches of climb on all fours...super shag man...but all in hope for the push to the summit cos the previous stong trip did not manage to make it up to the summit...we were hoping for a nice view up at the summit...hahaz...but when we finally reached the summit...the view was well...duh...surrounded by vegetation...the summit was characterized by a big....stone...hahaz...and there we were...1420 m above sea level...on the summit of gunung stong! hahaz...not quite wad i expected...but was quite glad to reach the summit larz...hahaz...after resting and relaxing for a while...it was time to descend before the sky turns dark...hahaz...

the trek down was marred by heavy rain! arghz...rain rain rain...luckily it died down before we reach base camp but it was more than enough to get us all drenched...but wait for us was dinner! hahaz...had a quite refreshing shower before proceeding to cook our dinner! =P has rosti with sausage and cream cheese...luncheon meat omelette...chocolate fondue! yippie...the rosti was...heavenly! hahaz...very nice! the choc fondue as well...rox! hahaz...then after dinner the guides had an impromptu jamming session with us with his guitar

after everything we all retreated to our tents...where this time we (me + shunhua + debbie + jianing + wei xin + wan wei + pei wen + aileen) squeezed into the tent...quite a squeeze with not much space for moving...hahaz...

day 4
woke up @ 0600 this time to catch the sunrise...still as misty...but the sky was a little bit clearer and the morning sky was much nicer...and the sun was still playing hide and seek behind the clouds...arghz....

after a pancake breakfast...we prep-ed for the more relaxing part of the trek...waterfall trek! hahaz...started from base camp and climbed up...to a very nice spot where the waterfalls from the summits of gunung stong and gunung ayam meet...very very nice...much better than berkelah...hahaz...all of us just enjoyed the moment there...jumping into the water...getting hydrotherapy from the waterfall...damn shiok! hahaz...then it was time to move on back down to another waterfall...this one provided a much better hydrotherapy...and there is this princess hole where a can just "disappear" into the water...very fun! hahaz...

after lunch...we got ready for out waterfall abseilling...it was quite an experience...with the rushing water pushing against ur feet on the slippery surface...but nevertheless...it was fun fun fun! however the fun was cut short when aileen slipped and hit her chin against the rock surface...there was a deep cut on the her chin...moreover weixin also dislocated her ankle...so the activity was stopped...anyway the rain clouds were fast approaching...by the time we reached back to base camp...it was pouring and we were un-pitching our tents in the heavy thunder storm...arghz...hahaz...but it was quite "fun" in a way too...haha...

after waitin for the rain to be lighter...we left base camp at 1700 for the resort...it was quite a trek down as the ground is really really wet after 3 days of heavy rain...and we have casuaties with us...but in the end we managed to all reach the resort before the dark...=)...took a quick shower @ the resort before heading back to dabong for dinner and our train ride home...

day 5
took the train past the checkpoint straight to tanjong pagar as we were returning back to school to clean up the equipment...hahaz...washed all the muddy and smelly stuff in school and waited for the sun to dry them before keeping them...had a quick subway lunch with the comm people before finally heading home for some reunion with my bed! hahaz...and that marks the end of a memorable trip! =)

back from an entire day of oac outings! hahaz...super enjoyable! =)

the day started with my briefing for the stong trip...then after collecting the tent...rushed back home to throw down the tent....packed a little and headed to meet the rest @ harbourfront...when i reached...only tze was there...the rest were late...hahaz...then we waited for ben and pei geok to come before going to giant to shop first...met up with jing song and sophia before heading to js's van to drive into sentosa...hahaz...

parked at the beach carpark and walked to palawan beach...altho the sky was overcast...the beaches were still quite crowded! arghz...managed to find a nice spot before settling down...played frisbee and dunked pei geok, tze and sophia into the water! -evil laughter- hahaz...chatted and gossiped under the tree...then after the first game of cards...it started to rain...diaoz...then we went ahead with plan b...we bathed and headed to tze house to kill time before meeting up with the rest! =P

drove back to vivo to meet up with the rest...and the rest included likoon, constance, wanling, weishan, huihui, sanmei and jingwen! hahaz...13 of us turned up...not bad! =)...while tze waited...js ben and i went to queue up first @ hk kim gary! the queue was very long larz! hahaz...then the timing was just right...they arrived just as it was our turn to enter...hahaz...=)...i order a cheese baked curry with pork chop...hahaz...super nice lar! shall visit this place more often! hahaz...after dinner huihui and weishan had to leave first cos they had something on...but for the rest of us...it was time for part 3 of the outing! hehez...

took bus to henderson road there...then climbed all the way up to the top of the henderson waves bridge! the view there was very nice! then the seats had these curves backings that we can all just lie there and look up into the night sky! it was very laid-back and relaxing up there! very nice! we all just sat around chatted...gossiped and just enjoyed each other's company! now that hui hui, ming juan and sophia graduated le...we realise that time really flies! hahaz...think we should all go visit them during their convocation/commencement...machiam really like having a member of the family graduating! hehez...

hehez...it is really nice to have a group of frens that you can always easily fit in...enjoy the company...and talk about lots of things...it is like we have really all known each other for very long liaoz! achelli 6 yrs to be exact...hahaz...i feel very lucky to have this group of frens...=)...then was talking to wanling abt the possibility of organising a 10th anniversary gathering when time comes...and maybe a 10th anniversary instructor t-shirt to go along with it? hahaz...

just had a first meeting among the nippon-do house! hahaz...for those who are blur...it is my sports camp house...early meeting to set the momentum going and also becos miq our house ic will be super busy in the next few weeks...so this week is the week...

the meeting was set @ 3pm @ maui wowi @ suntec...hahaz...what a time...the release of results for our exams was also 3pm...hahaz...super stressed in the lead up to the big reveal larz...hahaz...well...in the end...those who were there were miq, stefanie, jiayi, vanessa, sherlyn, andee and me...hahaz...not bad larz...more than 50% and including all the OGLs...=P...

discussed some details for the camp but majority alot of crapping and bitching amongst us...realised that most of us are not SC '07 alumni...hahaz...majority of the guys are alumni tho...hahaz...

after all the discussion...had dinner @ suntec with miq, stef and sherlyn...had more crapping...hahaz...well first impression...the councillors seems to be a fun bunch! looking forward to the camp! =)

belaying slave!

just finished my two assignments as belaying slaves for innotrek...and gosh was i totally beat!

the first assignment was on saturday afternoon and the whole of sunday...and the camp was for bedok green secondary @ sarimbun camp!!! so ulu!!! arghz...borrowed the car from my dad and drove there for the 2 days...hahaz...was belaying the kids for the rock wall for the whole 1.5 days...and the weather was quite unpredictable...sometimes cloudy...sometimes sunny...sometimes rain! hahaz...

the second assignment was @ the moe adventure centre for balestier hill secondary...this time not so ulu la...so not that bad...hahaz...

all in all the work quite tiring...4 days of belaying...my finger joints were hurting by the end of the fourth day lor! arghz...then my right half was also aching at the end of everyday...then the innotrek polo t-shirt is really a sweat magnet lorz...not perspiration frenly onez...arghz...

but at least i did some work...got some income...hahaz...=P

first hols update

completed the game finally! hahaz...started playing before the exams...took a break from it during exam period...then devoted all my time to completing the game over the past week! hahaz...

no work so far...but through shunhua, got an adhoc lobang as belaying slave for 4 days...starting this coming saturday till tuesday...working for this company called innotek...well...at least i wun be rotting so much...and the money earned can be use to fund the items below! =P...

sandals
went down to F.I.T. to get my sandals...cos my previous pair of teva ones died on me midway thru berkelah...if u all can remember...bought a pair of sandugo all-terrain adventure sandals....quite cheap too...@ 48 bucks...and the comfort and support so far not bad...well the real test is during my upcoming stong trip...hahaz...decided not to buy teva again cos i did some homework and read up some reviews at local forums...seems that the spider rubber layer not well attached to the midsole layer...theus very easy to come off...so decided to try a new brand...sandugo...a filipino brand...then heard that it is quite value for money...outside of brands like chacos and source, whose adventure sandals are good...but will burn a hole in ur pocket...hahaz...

hahaz...have been wanting to get a proper daypack for the treks...cos when we move off from base camp...it is always carrying a daypack...but i dun have a proper daypack...plus my out SAF water bag also need to change...so might as well invest in a proper one...can use for other purposes like cycling trips...etc...so went down to beach road to find onez...after some comparisions of brands...size...etc...chose the camelbak m.u.l.e. hydration pack...should be able to fit my needs quite well...hahaz...

tragedies...

haix...over the course of 2 weeks...2 tragedies has struck Asia...the first being Cyclone Nargis that hit Myanmmar...the second being the 7.8 earthquake that hit China...on one hand it is a relieving thought that we are living in Singapore where the chances of such occurances is quite low...but when one sees the reports and articles of the aftermath...you cant help but feel sad and feel for the victims...

it is quite preposterous that amidst the suffering of its people, the Myammar junta can still mix politics into relief efforts...plain bastards...

then on the Sichuan side...just knowing that alot of casualties are young children just sends a chill down the spine...the young is always the most innocent of all...not knowing what happens and such...

lets hope the situation will get better soon for everyone there...

finally got some time to update after the long exam period! arghz...really very drained...the exam was so long! 6 papers to handle this sem...dun really think i wanna try this again if i have the choice...really very tiring! well...but at least i think i balanced my stuff quite okay this semester...hoping for the best! else next sem i will have to pia to undo any damages to my cap done during this semester?

anyway...my last paper was today...GEM2900...but i celebrated the "end" of exams on tuesday after the CM1502 paper (which was crap)...hahaz...went to holland village with sora people and ate at nydc...where i think we were the noisiest bunch there...hahaz...but really had lots of laughs with them...very fun to just relax and crap with them larz! hahaz...coincidentally...all ten of us ordered baked pasta/rice there...so all our orders came together...hahaz...and then there was this episode that when we asked james what colour elmo was...he said green! hahahaz...that is oscar larz...then everyone was laughing at the mix-up! after dinner was round 2....went to swensen's for some ice-cream...then in the end...there were 5 orders for sticky chewy chocolate! hahaz...then shiqi was sulking the entire time cos her mango madness was not as nice and chiyuan din share his sticky chewy chocolate with her! tsk tsk...chiyuan...how can...hahaz...

anyway on some updates for my hols...will be involved for sports camp and chess camp...but heard some not so encouraging news...chess camp all 5 days will be staying over in KR! arghz...so sianz...even tho got go DXO...but should have a some chalet stay mahz! then sports camp heard that they took out ubin and fright night...hmmm...can say that a little disappointed laz...

as for rovers stuff...going for trek to gunung stong in june! joined soon kiat's trek...pulling shunhua along with me...then found out that debbie, jianing and jiawei will be there with geraldine...hahaz...the 4 noisiest person during my previous berkelah trip is back to haunt us again! hahaz...joking lar...think will be quite fun! =P...but sad thing is that my diving trip was cancelled...cos poor response...arghz...gotta wait again...sighz...

time to start prep-ing for ahm le...signed up for it...then got the saucony passion run in june...so gotta sit down to plan a training regime soon...hahaz...dun wanna end up as a statistics on newspaper the next day! =P...

but now that my may is suddenly so free...think i might consider go find a job...anyone got lobang? hahaz...

had a wonderful outing with my fellow 29th oac-ians yesterday @ east coast! hahaz...picked up geokz and tze before driving to east coast to pick up ben and then finally arriving at the east coast lagoon food centre...found a neat spot and waited for the rest to come! =P...

all in all...there was tze, geokz, ben, koonz, zhemin, wanling, jingsong and me! hahaz...not bad lar the turnout...hahaz...ordered lots of food! pooled $70 and bought all the food...there was hokkien mee...carrot cake, chicken wings, fried oyster, sambal stingray, cockles, satay, and off course sugar cane juice! hahaz...just sat there and ate...chatted...joked...suan-ed...just damn fun larz!=P

after a filling dinner...there was round 2! we all drove down to liang seah street for desserts! settle for 记得吃...ordered my 龟苓膏...hahaz...then noticed this yellow suzuki swift that was covered and filled with pikachu and pichu! hahaz...could not resist but to snap a picture of it! =)

after the long struggle...finally completed the stupid IT1005 term assignment...just left some dressing up to do...still got time lar...hahaz...

nus open house this weekend...achelli i am quite relieved now that i was not picked to be the open house helper...gave me the time to do so catching up on work and revision...moreover the weather was bad...like it is raining cats and dogs now...i am sure the human crowd @ SRC would be quite crazy...hahaz...

finished up quite a bit of stuff...taking a short break before returning to my tuts and books...hahaz...

today just as i was leaving my block to go SAFRA to swim...2 fire engines arrived...appparently there was a unit on fire @ my block there...but it din seem that bad...so happening in my small estate! =P

bought this one on tuesdays while @ vivo with my sister...they stopped producing the Brazilian series...and then plain ones are just...well...plain...so looked for another nice pair! hahaz...after so deliberation...chose this pair! original price $39.90...after the 20% discount using the NUS student card...it was $31.20...not bad lar...discount super useful! hahaz...

just finished reading this book...it was super nice! hahaz...guess my favourite genre is this kind...hahaz...Crusade was achelli book 2 of the Brethen Trilogy by the author...read book 1, Brethen last year and was immediately attracted to the action and suspense of the book...so when Crusade came out...i bought it immediately...the cheaper paperback version that is...tho it is fictional...but the events that it was based on were actual historical events! strongly recommend this book to any readers! but better to read book 1 first...which i also have! hahaz....

just back from the monthly oac gathering to celebrate the birthday of the people of the months! for february...there are weishan, hui hui and me! hahaz...

met koon, ben and huihui at city hall mrt before walking to lerk thai @ marina square...where pei geok and tze hwee were waiting for us there after their shopping...hahaz...then soon afterwards weishan came...only left sophia...but waited and waited she din come...then we guessed that she was going to be late...hahaz...after a long while...she finally arrived...and true to our guess...she lost her way! hahaz! =P

order phad thai and a vermicilli salad for dinner...quite nice! altho the salted shrimps a little too hard and salty for me...hahaz...but their tom yam soup was very good! =P shared each other's food and tasted the different dishes... took the opportunity to chat and catch up with everyone abt what has been happening for the past month or so...hahaz... always very nice that whenever we meet...there is just so much things to talk abt and share with each other! hahaz...never a dull moment in our conversations! hahaz...=)

after the main dinner...brought out the birthday cake that sophia bought from bread talk...it was a chocolate cake! my 3rd birthday cake! hahaz...the first was the one bought by sora on my birthday itself that we shared...the second one was a small one that pei geok bought from bread talk and shared among those that went to send fenniu and shuyun off...then this one! hahaz...this one...altho a bit hard...but it was very nice! hehez...

we were all so full by the time we left lerk thai...hahaz...it was a great outing and a nice reprive from all the mugging for mid-term exams...hahaz...looking forward to the next gathering! hehez...

went to watch the sheares hall production today @ ucc...it was titles the wind in the willows...overall i think i was quite a good show...props and settings wise, it was quite simple...but the highlight was really the actors...they were quite good! especially the actor who acted as toad...very impressive! =) hahaz...and they took the chance to take a swipe at nus school admin abt the 25% hike in hostel fees...lots of laughs! hahaz...

in the morning...went swimming @ mount faber as usual...but on the way back...i accidentally kicked the ledge of the void deck as i was walking...whacking my right big toe quite hard...then in the end the skin and flesh separated and bled...so i walked about 400m home with blood coming out from the wound...quickly dressed it when i went home...luckily it was not too serious...hahaz...cant resist but to put the wound...

chinese new year!

gong xi fa cai everyone! hahaz...this year we had out annual (really really annual! =D ) oac cny gathering! hahaz...supposed to go to tze's and sophia's house to bai nian!

in the morning went to mount faber for my usual 50 laps of swim first before heading home to get ready...picked up ben, cons, likoon and weishan form harbourfront before going to tze's house...hahaz...decided not to put any parking coupon...cos thot that since shill 初三 the parking warden wun be so evil one right? hahaz...so we went up...greeted tze's parents and met up with zhemin, jingwen, mingjuan, jingsong and wanling...minguan and jingwen were wearing killer heels lorz...whack someone with it sure mati onez...hahaz...we all started chatting at the living room...oac chat always very fun one...hahaz...filled with laughter...crap...suan-ing...etc...you all get the idea...=) hahaz...after tucking in to the nice beehoon and curry chicken that tze's mum prepared with minimal help from tze...we started playing black jack! hahaz...was the banker...lost a bit...won a bit...in the end lost! hahaz...

left @ 2pm to go sophia house...no parking ticket...hahaz...maybe we were right...those parking warden are compassionate one...dropped weishan off @ clementi...then went to cck there...and since we would be here for much longer...we just put one coupon for show lar...hahaz...greeted sophia's parents...siaohui and moo moo joined us at sophia house...hahaz...soon we started playing mahjong! there were 2 other cells playing german bridge and black jack...hahaz...recouped my loss for the black jack from the mahjong table...then we all went out for dinner...after dinner...i was the banker of the balckjack game again! hahaz...

mid-way thru the game...zhemin said he noticed a white ticket on his windscreen wiper...we all rushed down to our cars and checked...true to our suspicions...the 凤飞飞 auntie brigade has struck! luckily got one parking coupon...kenna fined $20...if not would be $50! hahaz...looking on the bright side...i managed to win enuff from being the black jack banker to cover the fine! wahahaz...think moo moo lost alot...then likoon also lost a bit...think partially because of the suayness from sitting next to zhemin! hahaz...super funny lar...zhemin can never hide his laughter everytime likoon exceeds 21 pts...bao-to him onez...tsk tsk...hahaz...

after everything...we all left at 10 plus...sent fenniu and pei geok home...hahaz...but it was a very very fun oac gathering as always! hehez...

jiaozi festival 2008!!

had a fantabulous oac gathering yesterday! hahaz...met up to celebrate the birthdays of the jan babies as well as to saviour the 饺子 made by yujin's mum! hahaz...

picked up pg @ 330 before picking up cons and moomoo @ nus...went to imm to shop for the steamboat food...bought lots of good food! got sotong balls, prawn balls, meat balls, crabstick, etc etc...then also bought a birthday cake from four leaves! by then weishan, sanmei n siaohui joined us already...so in the end...on the way to san's house...siaohui was sitting at the front passenger seat...while the other five gals squeezed behind...they actually fit! hahaz...-evil laughter-...then upon reaching san's house...started to prepare the food...her house really big lar! hahaz...

after a while realised that the jiaozi were out of the freezer...and all started to mush together...called yujin...then realised that too late le...those that were out no hope le...we all felt super bad lar...cos all these jiaozi handmade by his mum...but we still cooked them first...becoming a super big jiaozi! the fillings were still very nice! just that the floor skin abit jialat...then along with the sumptuous feast laid out in front on the steamboat dinner...we all have a very very full dinner! hahaz...sanmei's parents also prepare alot alot of food! omg...hahaz...but we all tried to eat as much as we could...

after the eating...it was photos! we all gathered to at the middle of the living room...there was ryan, ben, zhemin, likoon, jingsong, yujin, meiting, sanmei, jingwen, constance, peigeok, sophia, tzehwee, mingjuan, fenniu, siaohui, weishan, wanling and me! hahaz...almost full attendance! feels great to meet up with fellow 29th...hahaz...was talking to constance...entering the 6th year since we all first met each other...and we are still very close! very heart-warming! hahaz...=)...

then cake the birthday cake...sang the birthday song for the jan birthday babies...wanling...siaohui and likoon...the cake was really very nice! hahaz...after everything...out dear peigeok started collecting money from the people for all the presents and stuff from the past...hahaz...the collection look a little bit like bookie collecting bets...hahaz...in the end...we left at 11pm...din want to disturb san's parents too much...it was very very nice of them to invite us over le...so should leave early...hahaz...in short...a great outing! =)

hmmm....dunno why...these couple of week feeling a little moodyz...sth just wanna keep quiet to myself...contrary to wad some of my frenz think...i am not a super man...i am still human and i do have my days that i feel down...hahaz...

maybe it is due to the fact that i am feeling lethargic even tho i get ard 7hrs of sleep everyday...

maybe it is due to the fact that i am expecting myself to maintain my results...my own expectation which is not that easy to achieve achelli...

maybe it is due to the fact that i am taking 6 modules this semester...this means less time for myself...less time to recharge and rest...

maybe it is due to the fact that ChBE department has dragged my appeal for 6th modules for so loongggggg....making me irritated and quite pissed achelli...

maybe is is due to the disgusting IT1005 lab slotted that i got during balloting...

today is the last day of week 1 for sem 2 le...think i should post some updates...hahaz...but somehow quite lazy...ok ok...proper things first...

the week began quite well for me...managed to get my FNA2004 Finance module for 1pt! hahaz...i remembered checking the bidding history for last AY...average pts paid was 1000 G pts! hahaz...so funny...so i got my sixth mod...but that is only half the story...sent my appeal to overload letter to ChBE department...twice...but they still haven reply yet...freaking irritating lorz! grrr...1 week le! efficiency so poor...

think if this sem really succeed in taking 6 module...shall shift into mugger mode right from the start...not much room for error in this...hahaz...mug mug mug! then i have a buffer...meaning that my GEM2900 i am prepared to S/U it for the sake of the other 5 main modules...hahaz...my priorities are studies...think i know for sure that when i really get down to studying...i may be quite easily irritable and might rub people off the wrong way...hahaz...hope it wun happen...but just in case...sorry to my frens who might be offended by me unwittingly in the future! hahaz...

so many things going on around in my life...sth i just wish for a simple life...simple education...simple family...simple frenships...maybe just stay anchored in my own principles and beliefs...lol...(p/s: it is okay not to understand what i just wrote...just rambling some thoughts that came across my mind...hahaz...)

tomolo is the start of sem 2 le...hahaz...last day of hols...must treasure...hahaz...

already got 2 textbook ready for the modules that i taking...atkins' physical chemistry by atkins and de paula...and elementary principles of chemical processes by felder and rousseau...the former cost me $55 while the latter cost me $25...both are 2nd hand books...quite a steal achelli...the books cost $80 and $40 if they were new...hahaz...

hoping to get my 6th module during bidding rd 3A tomolo...my target...FNA2004 Finance...but only left with 4 pts in my G account...so hopefully can have a miracle...4 pt king! wahahaz...=P

stupid lecturer for GEM2900...tomolo start lecture le...still nothing uploaded on ivle...think really going for lecture empty handed tomolo...grr...

back from a shopping trip...meant for it to be shopping for new year clothes...but in the end...turn out to be shopping more for the new semester...

for lab next sem...needed to want pants with covered shoes...so no slippers and berms...plus my current pair of chinese diesel also very chui already...walk long...my heels will hurt...so about time to get a new pair too...hahaz...

in the end...bought a pair of weinbrener casual shoes from bata (no...i am not going to buy and throw away....bata...hahaz...), a pair of $19.40 jeans from IP zone that i quite decent looking and comfortable...as well as a pair of black berns from samuel and kelvin...hahaz...not bad larz...

i hope to be a better son to my mom and dad...they worked very hard to raise me till today...slogging to provide for me...and i must admit that i was not a very good nor filial son in the past...but i am working on it...=)

i hope to be nicer/meaner to my sis...haven decide yet la...hahaz...but since she getting married next nov...means that she moving out of the house...as much as she refuse to admit it...she will surely miss my presence...hahaz...and i would miss a sister for me to irritate and confide in for matters...=P

i hope to be a fren that can get along with socially...but one that can help frens in studies and problems that they might face in work...not that i very good or sth...just that peer learning and teaching is one very important...it benefits both parties...=)

i hope to maintain my frenship will all my frens so far...understand that i might not be always able to attend every single gathering...but i treasure frenships alot and i wanna maintain all of them...=D

went to james' 21st birthday party yesterday...it was held @ the HomeTeamNS chalet @ bukit batok...

the entire was super tired...morning woke up early to start washing my equipment and stuff from the berkelah trip so that i can catch the morning sun to sun them dry...my ground sheet...water bag...mess tin...etc...hahaz...took a while...the went to rest and relax...hahaz...

in the evening...went to pick up sock peng, ee kai and andy before driving to the chalet...the entrance is so easily miss-able lorz! so small...and no prominent gate...hahaz...drove an extra round just to get in! hahaz...we were the first few to arrive...then while waiting for the rest to come...we starting playing saboteur...one of the few games that james rented from minds cafe...it was quite fun lorz...all the scheming and such...hahaz...

soon...the rest came and we all started eating...how can a sora gathering be without suan-ing? the usual target? shiqi and yong lai lar...and shiqi din do herself any favour by wear a top that says "it's all about love"...really asking people to shoot her one larz! hahaz...then shengqi also kenna shot by me and andy ng for...wearing make-up? hahaz...damn funny larz...when tony and the mahjong came...we literally set up a gambling den there...and shengqi very stressed...cos got alot of commentators by her side telling her what to do...hahaz...then andy wong seat the luck very good lorz...hahaz...

then the hgihlight of the game came...courtesy from andy ng...cos shengqi just threw away one circle...then he said that cards tend to come back...especially one circle...true enuff...the very next tile that shengqi drew was...one circle! omg...very freaky larz! hahaz...too bad din play money...else would be more exciting...lol...hahaz...

left @ around 1145...needed the rest to recover...got tent washing the next day!

berkelah falls!

Back from Berkelah Falls! Just finished the cleaning up of my own stuff to settle down to write about this trip...think this will take quite a while...hahaz...anyway it was my first trip with Rovers! hahaz...think it was quite a nice trip! =)

27th Dec
met the rest of my group @ marsiling @ 2000 supposedly...but everyone was late...my group consisted of meng siong, shun hua, jing wen, lin qun, jianing and debbie...hahaz...went shopping for our food @ the ntuc there...then took the train to meet the rest of the people @ kranji mrt...from there we took 170 to larkin terminal in jb where we changed to the express bus heading to kuantan...hahaz...the bus left @ 0000...at it was a 6 hr bus ride...so being the time of the day it was...everyone slept! hahaz...

28th Dec
reached kuantan bus terminal @ around 0535 like that...proceeded to the food centre above to wash up, change and get ready for the hike. after that,we met our local guide...encik abu...and we loaded our bags into the taxis...from there we made our way to a well known roadside eatery called mazam restoran for our breakfast. ate 2 packs of nasi lemak with iced kopi...the nasi lemak was very nice...but the kopi was a tad too sweet for me...hahaz...after a nice hearty breakfast, we all got back onto the taxi and proceed to the entrance for the falls...just before a particular bridge, we were dropped becos the taxi could not proceed further due to the destroyed roads during the floods...hahaz...so from there we just started trekking in...it was around 0815 like that la...it was quite a leisurely trek up...reaching the intended campsite @ around 1015...altho geraldine took the wrong path a couple of times...lol...hahaz...set up shop...change to our day packs and continued the trek to the main falls....

the paths were quite okay larz...just that some part requires a little skill and group work to clear...hahaz...then by the time we reached the falls it was around 1215...rested by the main falls...ate our lunch and took lots of photos there! hahaz...then on the way down...alfred found a spot for the confidence jump part...but in the end the guys jumped but only 2 girls(yi fang and jia ning) jumped...after the jump...headed further down for some hydro-therapy at the rocks there...letting the rushing cold waters beat down upon the shoulders and neck...very shiok! hahaz...after relaxing for a while more...we headed back to the campsite...

by the time i reached my campsite...my 4-yr old teva sandals gave way already...then had to wear a pair of bright yellow crocs from alfred...hahaz...damn funny larz...started cooking and eating dinner there...we had quite a feast achelli...mee goreng with cocktail sausages...kimchi ramen with mushroom and cocktail sausages...england clam chowder...scrambled eggs with mushroom and ham...popcorn curry chicken...stir-fried veg with ham...dessert was chocolate fondue and fruit cocktail! hahaz...the rovers comm also had choc fondue but theirs was not successful...they put a foil over the boiling water and melted the choc...but it dried up very fast...our choc fondue was a success...we melted the choco by placing it in one of the cans that we opened...and placing the can in a mess tin a hot water and using the bunsen burner to simmer it...hahaz...dip in the marshmellow...yummy!

after dinner was lots of cleaning for the mess tins by the river...esp the egg...very hard to clean...altho we put oil already...hahaz...during the washing...meng siong and shunhua tried to catch the fish using the mess tins! hahaz...after dinner...shunhua...meng siong...alfred and i went upstream to bathe using the river water...bathing in the pitch darkness with only cyalume sticks to light the area was quite an experience! hahaz...when we were all refreshed...went back to the tent area...chatted amongst our group...hahaz...quite fun...we all only slept at around 12 like that...hahaz...

29th Dec
woke up @ around 0700 and heard from mengsiong that during midnight like that...there was this group of malays that arrived...crossed the river and set up shop beside our tents...hahaz...gave him a shock lar! haha...washed up...packed up and started cooking breakfast...and we had quite a feast! ate the 3 packets of kimchi mushroom noodles as the main breakfast...supplement by seaweed chicken roll...as well as nutella bread! hahaz...eatin the hot noodles in the cold morning was great! hahaz...soon...we were off to meet encik abu...

reaching the arrival centre of the area...we rested at the hut...where the guys went to bathe at the river upstream hahaz...felt really good lorz! rested on a rock on the river to sun tan while bathing! hahaz...=P...the cold river water is something that i would miss! hahaz...plus all the hydrotherapy! lol...soon we all climbed back onto shore and changed before heading back to the hut...hahaz...

the taxi ride back to kuantan seems much longer than expected...hahaz...by the time i woke up...we reached a & w le...ate the double deluxe cheeseburger with curly fries and a large rootbeer float! a & w extinct in singapore le...so go malaysia must eat! hahaz...after lunch...shunhua and i went to the pasar malam to walk...tried out the carrot cake, ice kachang and coconut juice from the road side stalls...quite nice! hahaz...walked back to the bus terminal to take the bus back to larkin...

once we reached larkin...the group split up into 2 groups...1 group went back to singapore...the other group went to taman seri tebrau for seafood! hahaz...of course i was at the latter group! enjoyed the seafood feast with my group as well as the committee members...the photos are proof of the food we had! hahaz...the difference in size between the large and medium sugar cane juice is very amusing...hahaz...cant believed that some really downed the entire mug! hahaz...

all in all the view was great...the company was great...i enjoyed the trip alot! hehez...

just back from christmas eve dinner with my relatives @ boon lay...then got quite pissed off during the drive back...there was not one...but two cars that were behind me and they had their bloody fog lights on! pieces of s**t they all...damn inconsiderate lar! it is so damn bright to the driver in front! moreover the roads in singapore not completely smooth...go minor humps...so everytime such cars go over...the "light" will sweep up and down...then it fills light my eyes kenna high-beamed twice by the car behind...

i seriously dun understand the mentality of these buggers...singapore streets so dark meh? need to on fog lights ah? or just wanna show off ur cars got good fog lights?

i got a suggestion for LTA to consider...allow car owners to install retractable mirrors in the rear of cars...so everytime the leading car driver notices inconsiderate buggers that switch on their foglights...just need to flick a switch to bring out the mirror...then with the mirror facing back...reflect the bright fog lights back to the driver behind...let him have a taste of how it feels to have to endure HIS fog lights...

IN YOUR FACE, YOU PIECE OF INCONSIDERATE S**T!!! HOW'S THAT FOR U???

law-abidding drivers should not worry...as they would not be affected if their car lights are normal brightness and they never switch on fog lights...it would be okay...hahaz...

sentosa 181207!

woke up nice and early to buy breakfast for myself and my mum before packing to get ready for the sentosa trip with sora...the funny thing is i lookout of the window towards the city area...the sky is clear and sunny...i look out of the window towards the vivo area...grey clouds...so which one am i supposed to believe? deciding to take a small gamble...we decided to press on with the outing...hahaz...

the meeting time was supposed to be 9.30am...but as we all know...meeting timings have a buffer period of around half and hour...so i reached the harbourfront station @ 9.30am prepared to wait until 9.30am...hahaz...then ee kai arrived first...followed by yong lai and gerard...then i gerard and yl to go help buy some drinks and snacks for the trip...one by one...shiqi...oi fong...chi yuan...sheng qi and tony arrived...james would be very late...audrey joining us after her training while andy ng had sth on last min...could not join us...

the moment we exit out of the lift on the third storey of vivo city...we were greeted by the site of rain! argh...but since we are all there le...we just decided to push on...at least it was only light rain...took the sentosa express over to sentosa...luckily for us...by the time we reach the beach station...the rain stopped and the sky began to clear up...hahaz...yay! we chose a spot with the shelter @ siloso beach before apply the sun protection...ee kai and gerard super gung ho...never apply...we shall see what happens...hahaz...

played beach vball at the nearby court...by then the morning sun was out! hahaz...super sunny! convinced the girls to join in instead of "commentating" at the sides...hahaz...but soon they were complaining about the pain of hitting the vball...=P...after a long game...we all retreated back to the shade...played some frisbee...by then it was lunch time...so a group of us proceed to walk to koufu food court @ palawan beach while the rest stayed back to look after our belongings...ate a $4.30 chicken rice set...which i truely believe is the cheapest food avail on sentosa...hahaz...after lunch went to the bball court for some shots...hahaz...

while playing bball...the dark dark clouds started to loom omniously over rasa sentosa...we all knew that the predictable afternoon rain was coming...hahaz...so when it really came...we all seeked shelter @ the sapphire pavillion...playing bridge while the thunderstorm battered the island....it was really heavy heavy rain! hahaz...there was a funny episode with shengqi and her folded contact lens stuck in her eyes...of course...tony was busy scanning and surveying all the beach-goers (female ones) and "evaluating" them...|||o...haix...he ah...after around like 40 mins hiding from the rain...it turned into a light shower and then a light drizzle...seeing that...we all venture into the vball court again to play another round of beach vball...hahaz...

we played until the point that all of us were stoning and becoming "vases" on the court...so we all decided to end the day by soaking in the waters...hahaz...up until that point only a couple of us went into the water...people like shiqi, shengqi and james were hoping and praying that they can end the day without getting wet...yar right...as if we would let that happen...come on...go sentosa and not get wet? where is the logic in that? hahaz...one-by-one...we all dragged and dunked everyone into the waters and just lazed around there...until around six plus then we all got up...but not before a couple of group photos...hahaz...

took the sentosa express back to vivocity before deciding to have dinner @ seah im food centre...after dinner...it was adios to everyone...since we all have the industrial visit to PowerSeraya tomolo...hahaz...

hiyar people! i am finally back! after the long long hiatus from studying-mugging...updating my blog here...(but not before seeing the scolding from san mei @ my chatterbox =S)

exams finally concluded on 6th dec with FNA...in total...have quite a "feel-good" factor after the entire exam...hoping and praying that my 5.0 is attainable...hahaz...and possibly can squeeze into the dean's list? =P hahaz...at least good results in sem 1 can help buffer the other years...slowly working towards my first-class eh? =P

october 28 2007. changi exhibition centre. 10km. hahaz...register and went fot the NB Real Run 2007. held @ a new venue this year...different from sentosa for the previous 2 years. koonz supposed to run also...but he missed the deadline for registration...so i ran alone in the end. the first 8km were okay lar...just the last 2km of road was a killer...the straight straight tarmac road with no shade and the sun beating down on u...not easy man...but in the end still survived lar...hahaz...then realised that the t-shirts that the volunteers are wearing are much nicer than the ones that the participants are getting larz! arghz...was tempted to go exchange with them...but on second thoughts...nvm...hahaz

as i un-gloriously announced in my blog that i lost my previous canon ixus 65...it took a while before we went to get the new camera. cos my sis need a camera for her trip to japan...so needed to buy one...was deciding between the panasonic lumix fx-55 and the canon ixus 860 IS...then in the end me and my sister chose the latter as we are more comfortable with our regular brand and canon is quite well established lar...got the new camera @ $669...-ouch-...and i am sure this time i will be xtra careful with my camera...arghz....

just back from the birthday celebration that yong lai held @ a family fren's ktv @ serangoon gardens yesterday...it was super fun larz! hahaz...dun worry...will slowly get into the details...

wedneday...wanted to buy a present for yonglai...so went do to the adidas shop @ vivo to get the liverpool jersey that he wanted...hahaz...then when i reached...the stupid shop is closed for stock-taking larz! arghz...wasted trip...in the end had to make another trip down to queensway...then managed to get the jersey from a shop...coupled together with a liverpool supporter scarf! hahaz...

met the rest of the sora @ ard 7pm...then repackaged the jersey and scarf into a nicer puma (diaoz...) bag....hahaz...then from then...we made our way to the ktv...the room were all booked by yonglai for family...jc frens...sec sch frens...as well as us sora people larz...hahaz...then our room think is one of the big onez! hahaz...then the buffet food was all arranged along the corridor...so very little space to walk...hahaz...then initially...we all just picked songs to listen...then gradually warmed up for the songs! hahaz...

and what is ktv without the alcohol? hahaz...yonglai opened a bottle of chivas regal for us...then chi yuan and tony each brought about half a bottle of absolut mandarin and bailey's respectively...then we all just drank whatever is on the table lorz...think all in all i drank about 1-2 glasses of bailey's...then along with around 10+ glasses of chivas coke...and 10+ glass of chivas green tea...hahaz...managed to get high during the ktv session...but not till the point of drunk and KO larz...hahaz...think my tolerance for alcohol is really quite high...hahaz...

think the fun part of it all is the suaning lorz...the entire night shiqi was suaned by us...being 大嫂...and everything...us making the 2 of thme take photos together (i am sure they wun mind)...then making them sing "梁山伯与珠丽叶"...letting them profess their affection thru the song...hahaz...but think is not suan lorz...we are just facilitating the 2 of them...giving them the oppportunity...hahaz...then also got sheng qi and her classmate justin...and the scene that chi yuan said (in an exasperated manner) to justin that he finally noticed tony and chiyuan...as everything justin only wave hi to sheng qi...even though chi yuan and tony were beside her and all 4 are in the same tutorial class! diaoz!

at the end of the dayz...gerard waved the white flag after abt 4 glasses...shengqi also got a bit of KO-ed...tony also was a little drunk...then the winner has to be shiqi lorz...hahaz...she was quite drunk...then maybe she "猜拳" with me...and even if half win half lose...i can definitely hold my alcohol better than her lorz...hahaz...

it was quite a fun outing all in all! hahaz...=)...

hahaz...today went for a dinner gathering with oac to celebrate the belated birthday for ming juan...

after school...went down to fisherman's wharf opposite the central @ clarke quay there...hahaz...was slightly late cos held up...then by the time i reached there...zhemin, ben, yujin, tze hwee, jingwen, peigeok, mingjuan already started eating le...then i went to order the food...and went back to the table...the food took like 20 minutes to come! i almost died of starvation on the spot larz! arghz...gobbled my food up so fast when i came that i forgot to take a photo of what i ate! hahaz...anyway...it was called atlantic halibut fillet (10.50) and i ordered coleslaw (2.5) as a side dish...hahaz...not bad larz...at least the fish is really fresh and nice! hahaz...

after dinner...we went over to tcc @ clarke quay there to just chill out...hahaz...ordered this slice of chocolate cake called "devil's love" i think...then it was used as a birthday cake for ming juan...hahaz...then very funny lorz...tze hwee and jing wen was acting cute...then zhe min always wanna chup in and act cute with them! hahaz...then in between...we all started comparing what kind of cards we had...then tze hwee started emptying all he funny funny cards lorz...diaoz...what's an oac gathering without fun...laughter...suaning...act cute...hahaz! =P...

hahaz...i am back with some updates!

monday to friday
all the lessons resumed after the end of the mid-term exams...back to the usual cycle of lectures and tutorials...the same old mundane cycles...i guess the only fun was attending the lecture together with sora...super fun bunch of frens...hahaz...got 3 projects coming up...EG 1413...need to write a position paper...FNA 1002...need to do an analysis of a listed company...SSA 2202...need to do a project on conservation in singapore...arghz...so much work piling up...then 2 of he project is due end Oct...which is...2 week more!!!!! argh!!!!

had to drag myself to start work on my FNA project...just wanted to have a good rest on a public holiday! arghz...guess "rest" does not exist in the dictionary of a uni student! arghz...

had dinner with huifen @ curry flavour...tho it was not exactly cheap and everyday-food those kind of price...but i think the food is definitely worth it in terms of taste and servings...=)...the japanese curry is very fragrant! hahaz...managed to catch up with huifen since haven seen her for quite a while...=)...

went swimming @ safra today...then while tanning by the pool...was reading my book...then think i too tired or something...dozed off...with my shades from reading still on! arghz...by the time i woke up was about 1 hr later...then as u all can guess...i got shade marks! arghz....look like a inverse panda now....bleahz...ugly ugly ugly!

then another funny thing happened...went to vivo standard chartered to open a joint acc with my sis...then after opening...left the branch normally...around 15 mins later...received a phone call from the financial consultant that my ic is still there! argh!...rushed all the way back to the bank to collect my ic lorz....super paisei...

after being slaves to the lecture notes for 2 weeks...i am finally liberated! woohooz! exacted sweet sweet revenge on MLE for what happened to my MA on tues...feels good! wahahaz...then after the MLE exam, went with chi yuan, shengqi, gerard, audrey, enqi, oifong and andy wong to vivo for some after exam celebrations! hahaz...

very funny lorz...initially we wanted to go the akashi restaurant...then the budget a little out of reach...so from b2 we went up to level 3 to marche...but the queue there is like 40 people long? arghz...then went back to b2 and finally settled on asian kitchen! ordered 酸辣面 and shared 小笼包 and 锅贴 with chiyuan, audrey and andy! hahaz...taking a photo with lousy camera phones were quite a challenge！wahahaz...

after dinner...went to ben and jerry's for desserts! the 8 of us shared a pint of dublin mudslide as well as a sundae containing chunky monkey, strawberry and coffee...hahaz...quite funny larz...the conversations that we on...lol...then after the desserts...browsed thru some of the shops in vivo...=P...then was helping to check out the price of the liverpool jersey that sora gonna get for yonglai...@ $109 from the adidas shop...then the girls were like "WHAT?? a jersey cost 100+ dollars????"...hahaz...well...girls have their stuff...guys that their stuff...life is fair! =)

argh...too much mugging over the past few days le...shall take the moment to write some things here to release so frustrations

went swimming @ SAFRA mount faber today...or at least i wanted to...until i saw 1 guy at the poolside...his body had patches of red red patches...i believe that was some skin fungal infection...but it was so bad that his body (front and back) had like 30% to 40% covered in those red patches lar! WTH! WTF! KN****B! i really was scolding these words in my head at that moment larz! i was like freaking pissed at how inconsidered this bastard can be! it was a pool for goodness sake! people swim there! those with such bad skin infections should know better than to go to a swimming pool lar! then he also rested on one of the deck chairs! argh! i condemn that deck chair forever and ever! i am still very pissed...it made me so pissed then that i could not swim...just tanned at the deck chair and read my SS notes...arghz...

p/s think i need to go on a diet...gaining fat...need to slim down...shall start from tomolo! diet! diet diet!

thursday went back to the changi airport to send off my 女儿, shuying who is going to japan for exchange for 1 whole year...hahaz...

but before the sending off...had dinner with shuying @ redhill close before we went to send zhengwei off on tues...hahaz...she was trying to get her last taste of singapore food before she went to japan...hahaz...treated her to ben and jerry's @ vivo before going to pick pg up...hahaz...

then on thurs itself...left home @ around 11pm to meet js at my void deck before driving to pick up pg and then make our way to the airport...reached there @ ard 1145...the airport was quite quiet by then lorz...hahaz...then we were the only ones together with shuying's uni frens from rovers and pru...

after a while of the usual taking photos and well wishes...we walked her to the gates there...and like that...another fren will be gone for a period...

just back from changi airport for the 2nd day in a row!

monday...was at the airport to send yeehung and kenny off...but this two poots chose to have their flights @ T1 and T2 respectively! arghz...then the timing really not so close together lar! argh...gotta cut myself into two to use ler...hahaz...anyway...had to go to woodlands to pick zhemin up...else he complain that i "没心"...sighz...wanna smack this zhemin liaoz...in the end...drove all the way up from the south to the north then to changi! once @ the airport...said hi to yeehung before rushing off to T2 with likoon to send kenny off...after the hi...bye...take care....good luck and bon voyage...rushed back to T1 to send yeehung off properly...he was already last call liaoz...hahaz...then he thanked everyone with a hug before chiong-ing into the immigration there...hahaz...super funny larz...then on the way back...luckily got shida and jiesong to settle zhemin...else if he used the "没心" thing on me again...will really hamtam him on the spot! then likoon sent sanmei back...then during the ride, sanmei became the 3rd OAC casualty to leave her epidermal cells on likoon's exhaust pipe...getting branded during the process! hahaz...koon ah koon...your bike horz...

tuesday...was at the airport this time to send zheng wei off...picked up shuying and peigeok before going to the airport...zhemin fetched constance, ben, jingwen and weiqi there...then we were thinking...got fetch constance how come never pick-up yujin? haiz...zhemin really "有心" lorz...hahaz...suaned him on the spot...hahaz...then zhengwei went in @ 2320 like that...then it was time to go home...zhemin could not send ben home...so yujin accompany ben to take train...only to realise that the last train left le! nightmare! horrors! hahaz...luckily got jizheng to save the day! hahaz...=)...i fetched them to city hall area for them to take bus back...else the cab/take bus from changi...they very jialat one...hahaz...so much for zhemin's "有心"...hahaz...

today went for patryce's 21st birthday with the sora freshies today...all was around except for yong kai, andy, kiong seng and enqi...hahaz...the rest was around! =)...picked up sock peng at my void deck(=P)...christabel, oi fong and audrey @ harbour front before making our way to the aloha changi chalets...

when we reached...only gerard was there...the rest were late! hahaz...anyway...some of us watch "qing gong feng yun" while some watch the ch8 drama in the other room...then everytime commercial break...one room will go into the other room to kajiao those watching...hahaz...

then, there was this cake...that was in the shape of a heart...then we made james (engine king) and patryce to take a "wedding photo" or some sort...hahaz...we also coerced yong lai and shi qi to take photo together! hahaz...then talking about the present...managed to trick patryce into thinking that it was an er xin present...but when it was in fact a puma watch! hahaz...should have seen her diaoz face when she saw the watch! =P

luckily we had 3 cars to send people back...in the end...i sent joanne, gerard, meiying and oi fong who were the "east" people cos got ee kai to settle the south people...hahaz...quite a fun day! =P

hahaz...felt so inspired by all the blog entries that ppl wrote abt zheng wei's farewell party that day...

must really really agree that i feel so at home with 29th...this is a bunch of close close pals that have brave thru alot with me in the short span of 2 yrs!

during yltc 2003, we were tekan-ed by our seniors...but that only served to break down all individual walls...as our suffering was all common...the bonds start the form and grow...

during instructorship, we were made up of 25 individuals..and each of us is unique and have our own views and ways that we do things...but nothing is impossible with communication and cooperation...we gone thru the stage of forming the team...storming among the team...then finally performing as a team! leading this group of 24 other instructors was my honour! the bonds we had were strained...but it never broke...and it just grew stronger!

during yltc 2004, every ounce of blood, sweat and tears that each and everyone of us put into it just made us even closer and tightly knitted...even in the face of the betrayal that we felt from our seniors...we never wavered...we were there to support each other...

post jc...the guys went to ns...the girls went to uni and overseas...during this period...think all of us start to appreciate the presence of each other when they are faced with new environments and new frens...appreciate the common experience that we shared and enjoyed...

4 yrs on since the day that we all first met...i am so glad to have known this group of frens...it can be that we never see each other for long periods due to commitments...but the moment we meet...we can all just click and enjoy each other's company! crapping...suanning...talking cock...eating...drinking...k-ing...anything! hahaz...i remember shuying once said that frenships are transient...they come and go...but i am sure that for 29th...the bonds that all of us have...are here to stay! =)...it is really comforting to know that you have frens that understand u and u can just hang ard with them and forget all ur worries and stress! i have never asked other batches...but i can confidently say that 29th is one of the closest, if not the closest, batch of oac instructors ever! yay!

just back from the farewell party that zheng wei threw for him (????...) hahaz...picked up tony from harbourfront initially...then while on ecp...realised that may need to pick up shuying and tze hwee and forgot to ask them if they needed the ride or not...hahaz....lol...sorry hor! =P...

today was supposed to be hc maf also...decided to attend zw's party instead...hehez...then asked shengqi to go support the oac stalls...but midway thru...she msg me that this year the balloons super ugly...then ask whether i still wanna support them or not...hahaz...since my juniors...then me as the 29th chief instructor...physically not there should stilll support them...so gave shengqi a budget of $10 to go support them...hahaz...

then today poked fun at tze hwee alot of times! wahahaz...feeling super evil...then made fun of her...wahahaz...so fun! =P...then pg was contemplating the buying of presents...then zhemin and koonz suggested setting up an oac fund that collects money regularly...then open a bank account to earn the pitiful interest...then those who never contribute wun get any present during their birthday! hahaz...super funny! then since likoon yearly allowance from saf is $15000...we all suggest that throw his allowance into the fund...then every birthday can afford a pair of fossil watch for the bday guy/gal! should have seen likoon's face then! wahahaz...spending time with the oac ppl are always so fun...very crappy...very funny...

then before we left...had a impromptu photo taking sessions...hahaz...quite fun! then on the way back...had to squeeze 6 passengers in my car! luckily is 5 girls 1 guy...so quite easily yo fit! hahaz...but during one of the humps...could feel the rear wheel "bua" against the wheel guard...must be tze hwee larz...cos she was sitting there that time...tze...too heavy liaoz...time to visit marie france bodyline! wahahaz...should have packed her into the boot...then the rest at the back will have more space! hahaz! =P...

went for a short visit to pasir laba camp for the army open house this year...my target was only the newly acquired leopard 2a4 main battle tank! wanted to have a first hand encounter with it...hahaz...walking in...there it was!

can see that the tank has been nicely painted...must have been at least 2-3 hours of hard work by the poor men assigned this sai kang....hahaz...painting the sm1 took quite some effort liao lorz...what's more the bigger leopard!

then also got to see the ah-64d apache attack helicopter...decided to snap a few phots up close...hahaz...it looked quite a beauty when you are just beside it lorz! hahaz...

this year...went to comex 2007 on day 2...ard 3pm like this...so it meant that i beat the office crowd and had the luxury to comfortably browse thru all the stalls! hahaz...then went around the laptops items and tried comparing the prices to the one that i paid for my fujitsu lappie...hahaz...must seek the "feel good" feeling mahz...hahaz...in the end...was quite convinced that for the amt that i paid...i got quite a good bargain! wahahaz! =P

this year it seems that there are alot of accessories for laptops available! hahaz...seems like the "hot" thing now...hahaz...

this time...i only bought 2 items...a 120GB Seagate FreeAgent 2.5" Portable Harddisk Drive and a ScreenWard LCD protector film...i tried to put on the film when i went home...but ended up with 12+ air bubbles....argh...then overnight...all but the dust particle bubbles disappeared! hahaz...still quite okay larz...wanted to get a webcam also one...but too exp...maybe will wait a little more bahz...hahaz...

finally received my laptop skin today! made the order on 4 aug, 2 days after the matri fair...supposed to receive it 2 weeks after the date of ordering one...but due to alot of things that happened, it was delayed until today. the delay and the lack of explanation from garskin (the company making these skins), really pissed me off lorz...but to keep the story short...i only received it from felicia, one of their liaison personnel today...

i immediately put the skin onto my laptop and it looked so nice! cool! it is called spin wind in the shade of blue...hahaz...now if want to order would cost $49.95 liaoz...so i saved $10! like my laptop skin so much! take a look!

just came back from AHM 2007! completed this year's run in special circumstances...hahaz...cos just recovered from minor food poisoning on mon-wed...so it sorta means that i din get to run since...last friday? hahaz...1.5 weeks never condition...plus the food poisoning bit...the odds were against me larz...but heck larz...just try...

woke up @ 330...prepared and left house to go pick joshua, my sis's bf, before heading the the city area...then changed to my shoes before dumping the bag with my sis who would wait for us @ the grandstand...=P...this sis quite useful one...dunnid to put the bag at the bag deposit...hahaz...

met up with shunhua before i ran off to the toilet...warmed up a bit before heading to the start line...then at 0530...then race was flagged off! hahaz...the first 15km was alright...my pace was qutie accurate @ 6min per km...so @ 16 km...i was @ 1hr 35 min...but after that...the results of not conditioning for the past week finally showed...my calf and thighs just wun listen...and the steps was so small...but cannot help it...hahaz...finally finished @ 2h 10 min...sighz...poor timing...but accpetable considering the circumstances...hahaz...next year...i will be back! i wan a timing of 1hr 55 as my next target! hahaz...collect my things...changed before gg for brunch with shunhua and zhengwei!

just heard that there was a fatality from the run, a cpt from ocs collapsed and died...this is tragic news...it is so sad to hear that a fellow runner has died...

anyway...some good news...my sis's bf proposed to her after the run! but in a SUPER DUPER UNROMANTIC way...the story goes like this...they have previously shopped for the proposal ring TOGETHER liaoz...just waiting for him to think of a way to pop the question...then for today...he set a personal target of 1hr 40min which he met...then he put the ring, wrapped in TISSUE PAPER, in a MEDICINE ZIPLOCK BAG, tgt with the finisher medal and just PASSED it to my sis like "Na...for you"...|||o...and he was not on his knee also! my sis only agreed after making him go one one knee! argh! when my sis told me how he proposed...i could not believe it lorz...sis...if u reading this...it was the MOST UNROMANTIC proposal that i have ever heard ever! hahaz...but if you are reading this also...i am so happy for you sis! =)...congrats!

yay~ got myself new flip-flops today! but it was because i also slipped 2x in school today...then decided that my current pair has really served me well and it was time to get new ones...hahaz...

after lunch, went to queensway to get new teva flip-flops...but there are none of my size! arghz....sighz...then i went to vivo first...to choose a pair of haviannas...a pure white pair...then went down to beach road to the familiar stall selling the deuter bags to buy my teva flip-flops...this one a pure black pair...so now i have 2 pairs! hahaz...can rotate to try to match my bottom...and haviannas are better for going to the pool since it can get wet...teva will start to smell once it get wet ince too often! hahaz...

the party was held @ the SIA Group Sports Club...the food seemed to be free flow like that...then shawn's dad kept on appearing with many bottles of red wine, white wine and champagne! hahaz...heard from shawn that SIA regularly received wine crates for the food tasting for the First Class menus...then there are leftovers...which are distributed to the staff...thus the many bottles! and these bottles are quite good bottles...ranging from 2002 - 2004...tried 2 types of riesling, 1 spatlese, 1 shiraz...then the best one was at the end...there was this 1996 Vintage Don Perigon! ah...this champagne was very very nice! the light sour fragrance followed by a sweet after taste! so nice!

went for sanmei's 21st birthday celebration yesterday...it was held @ Chevrons, in a function room called "Zes", which is basically a big KTV function room...

was a little late after picking up huifen, peigeok and shuying along the way...but was not that late lar...so i think still quite okay...hehez...the food was nice...maybe except the mango pudding...hahaz...=)...the chocolate cake was nice! got rum inside...but maybe the run not mixed as evenly...cos some cream was creamy...while some was alcoholic...=P...

think us 29th yesterday quite 自high...cos got the ktv there...add in the high songs like "第一天" and "恋爱 I-N-G"...hahaz...

wahahaz...blogging from school now...@ the study room @ yih...just attempted to try to do the maths tutorial...but i think i seriously failed terribly...hahaz...the brain inside is not not really working at the moment...think need so cranking up...and also need to dive deep inside..pass all those NS information to retrieve the Math knowledge that i left behind in 2005...hahaz...

first time mugging @ the study room in the new semester...think people about to curse and swear at me liaoz...chiong tutorial so early for what...but for me...at least i thing i learnt from the special term is that it is so much better to start early than cram towards the end...no joke one...all the modules cram together can kill...hahaz...

still got slightly less than 2 hrs before my lect starts at 4pm...gg to spend some time reading up on the FNA chapter covered yesterday...=P...

today was the first day of school! ahhhh!!!!

hahaz...was a little late for the first lecture @ 0800h (so early!!!)...then the chair no table one lorz...sighz...

then came the killa 6-hr block...2hrs of lecture of FNA @ LT 17...2hrs of lecture of changing landscape @ LT 11...2hrs of lecture @ LT 7A...the travelling ard can kill lorz! but i survived the first day of lectures! wahahaz...

rushed back home after the MA lecture...cos i was gg to watch 881 with my sister @ PS...@ 1930...so quite tight...hahaz...but it was a good movie to watch! =)...touching! and the theme song is so nice and catchy! hahaz...一人一半...literal translation means one person one half...hahaz...everyone can go watch the MV @ youtube at the below URL...

hahaz...went to watch nus rag today at the padang...just to see see look look @ how it is like...cos for the past 2-3 weeks like that...rag seems to be the most important thing in everyone's mind (other that bidding for modules...hahaz...=P)...

met up with audrey, shi qi, christabel, yong lai, tony, gerard, andy @ city hall before walking over to new york new york for lunch...ordered the juicy burger supreme...not bad...the patty is really juicy! wahahaz...=)...midway thru...sheng qi came and join us there...

after lunch...we walked over to the padang just in time for the start of rag...the guest-of-honour was President Nathan, the health minister and the mcys minister...it started with the floats and display from the halls...and it was very nice! kent ridge, sheares, temasek, eusoff, raffles and king edward vii...all their float was very nice and beautiful! =)...but personally...i like the sheares hall float the best...and the eusoff performance the best...=)...

then during the performance, there was this guy, let's call him Umbrella Man, that just refuse to keep his umbrella and allow those behind him to have a look. he was the LONE umbrella around lorz...then when ppl asked him nicely to lower the umbrella, he barely moved an inch lorz! we tried a different tactic...saying among ourselves, loudly, that time to keep the umbrella, thinking that he would get the subtle msg...but no lorz...he act as if he never hear like that...blahz...totally buay ji dong one lorz...sighz...

midway thru the faculty performances, shiqi got a little giddy...think the weather to hot liaoz...then we all proceed to take shelter under the grandstand seats...saw a HUGE husky there...after a while we all return to catch the performances...watched the SoC one, the FASS one, FoE one, BizAd one, FoS one...not bad...think the best one was the FoS one...hahaz...

today went on a trip with tze, ben, mj, huihui, huihui's mum and brother to ubin...

this time, the primary destination was to take a look @ the newly opened chek jawa boardwalk...hahaz...but everyone was late! wahahaz...agreed time was 11am at Tampines...everyone arrived at Changi...12.30pm! wahahaz...took the #2 bumboat ride to ubin...and we are back again! rented from the same bike shop again...then started cycling to chek jawa...hahaz...

once there...we first walked the mangrove boardwalk...climbed up the jejawi tower to observe the area...then continue on to spot...fiddler crabs! wahahaz...very small and cute...and they very fast too! continuing on...we walked the coastal boardwalk...to some near the sandbar...if only it was low tide! then can go walk the sandbar! argh...never mind...walked back to the old house no. 1...along the way spotted a soaring eagle (i think)...the house was converted into the chek jawa visitor centre lorz! hahaz...walked down the jetty to view pulau sekuda...hahaz...then went back to the vilage centre for some refreshing coconut! yay~ hahaz...

after the rest, we went to puaka...climbed up the 4 levels of puaka...and took nice photos there...then we cycled to the ex-sahara desert...before turning to go up tian chi...almost reached the old tian chi campsite...but spotted a family of around 5-6 wild boars in the area...then we din want to take the risk of getting confronted by a mama boar...so turned back to the village centre...

back @ changi village...we helped ourselves to desserts! i tried the red tea jelly longan...super nice! was introduced to it by my chess camp OGLs...hahaz...then it was back home after a long tiring day!

yesterday went to changi airport to send off wanling...cos she is flying off to norway for exchange programme...

drove to nus first to pick up shuying, peigeok and jingsong...and mr wong was quite late lorz...hahaz...in the end left nus at ard 2200...then reached changi airport @ 2230...just in time to catch ms shen before she enters the immigration...hahaz...

hahaz...ji xiao her with the crap that we talked abt online...but wun say it now since she is still flying and it would be inauspicious to say so...hahaz...another time maybe...=P...

after taking a few photos with wanling...it was time for her to leave liaoz...since her father was hurrying her to go in etc...hahaz...then we all went to burger king to grab a bite...then had to send js back to eusoff hall and shuying back to gillman heights...by the time i reached home...the usually parking lots were all occupied...and i had to park quite far away...hahaz...

haha...had a long awaited class outing with my jc class @ lindsay's house last saturday...

initially wanted to buy kahlua down to mix and have everyone enjoy the goodness of kahlua milk...but ever since 7-Eleven stopped selling the pint version of it...cant find the pint version anywhere else liaoz! argh...in the end...went to wine connection @ bukit timah to get a bottle a german reisling! hahaz...that one bottle set e back $33 bucks liaoz...good or not? read on...=P

in the end we walked from coronation all the way to king's drive there...(read: prime landed property sia!)...and met lindsay's mother and brother...=)...then we all sat down have had a chat...accompanied by chips and dips...hahaz...then after a while...i went to open the bottle of reisling to air while i went to sauteed some fish fillet to go along with it...=)...think it was the milk tea that i drank @ coronation early...i had to visit the toilet twice in the span of 10 minutes! argh...back to the riesling...as it turned out...it was achelli quite nice! i would recommend it to you all as a low-end kind of white wine...=)...it is slightly acidic, so it goes well with food...then it is semi-sweet...so should be okay for most people! =)...

the final attendance for the day was...lindsay(duh...), me, edwin, zhirong, albert, weiping, paul, chong hwee, kenny, huiying, oiying, claire, yi teng, weishan. not bad for the turnout lar...hahaz...played some card games and drinking games before some of us called it the day while some went to wala wala for more drinks! wahahaz....

hectic sunday

last sunday was quite a hectic day man! had so many things coming up...mizuno wave run...banana boating with sora and terra...then dinner with agnes...lets recount one by one...hahaz...

mizuno wave run 2007
woke up at 0600 to get ready...left house @ ard 0620 to go to joshua's house to pick him up...along the way think my dad might be too tired or sth...driving not very steady leh...then at joshua's place i took over the wheel...

we arrived @ TP at ard 0700...did some warming up and waited...and waited...and waited...=P...waiting for who? zhemin and ming juan larz! zhemin drove down...but was beaten by the parking nightmare...in the end the parked far far away @ safra tampines...and by the time they arrive...even the fun run has begun...hahaz...after some quick warming up...we were off...due to the rain this mornin...the entire route along bedok reservoir was super wet and muddy lar! my clean shoes became muddy shoes! argh...finished the 10km run in under an hour...but the nightmare only just begun...

there was quite a chaotic scene of people trying to find each other at the ending...which was changed on the day of the race itself! crap man...the goodie bag collection was lousy too...hundreds and thousands or runners...and they only opened up 2 lanes for the collection! bag deposit was messy too...just leaving people's bags on the wet grass!

after queueing for super long for the goodie bag...zhemin mingjuan and i left for some breakfast...while walking...met shunhua and andy wong...hahaz...went to the branch of the bedok 85 bak chor mee...not bad not bad...had a lift from zhemin to tampines station where i took the train back home...by then...it was 1200 liaoz...i just dropped my things off...took a quick shower...packed my stuff and left for the next activity!

this outing was actually organised by the sports camp momo...then louis invited terra his chess camp og over for it...then terra decided to invite sora...the sister og...cos terra mean 地...then sora mean 天...so together we are 天与地...the tea brand...hahaz! wel...initially...there was quite a lot of people from sora coming one...but on the day itself...alot of last minute pull out...so left patryce, ee kai, mei ying, andy wong, chi yuan, gerard and me...i was driving that day...so we reach the saf yacht club earlier than terra who left earlier from the station to take bus...hahaz...

once we reached...we saw the sport camp momo there...hahaz...while waiting...we just played bridge and other card games...when it was our turn...it was super fun! hahaz...acute turns...high speed falls...shiok! hahaz...after that we all washed up and left the yacht club. dropped off meiying, gerard and andy wong @ sembawang...ee kai and patryce @ city hall before driving over to suntec city to meet agnes

met up with aunty aggy while she is on holiday back in singapore! hahaz...did not manage to send her off the 2 previous times! hahaz...then took the chance to give her a treat @ new york new york! hahaz...she ordered and jumbo burger supreme while i ate a long island slamon steak...the food there was not bad at all! quite worth it larz...can consider going back there again...plus the seating was quite interesting too! hehez...

after 1 week's of rest for my throat to recover...i am jumping into another camp liaoz! hahaz...this this is the ChESS FW camp..short for Chemical and Environmental Engineering Student Society Freshmen Welcome Camp...hahaz...beforehand already had an idea that this camp would be quite different from the sports camp that i came from...but still wanna enjoy myself and get to know more frens! wahahaz...

day 1
reported outside LT 7A for the camp...my OG was called Sora! met chi yuan there! hahaz...my sec sch classmate from CHS...=P...then after a while came Tony from HC...pei geok's classmate...so qiao! the world is just so small man! both me and tony came from sports camp...so we sorta became the default cheer duo! hahaz...alot of 自 high involved in this...hahaz...but glad that have someone that i can relate to right from the first day! =P...after the briefing and welcome address...it was lunch time! the first meal was a catered lunch buffet! shiok! had some time to play ice-breaker games and surprising...the councillors lost! hahaz...us freshies zai ma...=P...

then in the afternoon...the first round of games began...liked the bubble volleyball game....alot like the tissue paper volleyball that we played in sports camp...need lung power one...then i climb ontop of the bench to blow downwards...thus the nick name from my councillor..."高高在上"...hahaz...then played this game of fear factor with our sister group terra...basically just scissor-paper-stone where the losing side has ingredient added into their mix...out of 11...we lost 2 only! so got soy sauce and mocha only! super lucky! hahaz...

after the games was SP session again...all the talking and repoeating of the same information to 4 persons...hahaz...but after the session...while being led back to LT 7A blind-folded...my councillor made me slam right in the door lorz! hahaz..."BANG!"...think the sound made was quite loud...hahaz...but everyone is fine...not hurt not hurt...hehez...then it was the start of treasure hunt around FoE...Biz Sch...SoC...FASS...with the race ending @ Kent Ridge Hall...our stay for the night! hahaz...after dropping our belongings in the rooms...Sora left Kent Ridge Hall for some supper @ Nitty's Cheese Prata...ordered 1 egg, 1 mushroom with bandung...the mushroom cheat money one lorz...just adding those canned buttoned mushroon only...dun buy next time!

reaching back to Kent Ridge, we washed up before gathering at my room for some crapping and chatting session...shared the room with Tony...cos not enough rooms...day one finally ended @ around 3 am plus...hahaz...

day 2

woke up and got ready for day 2...the amazing race (again)...hahaz...this time...the first stop took us to TigerLIVE @ St James Powerstation...went thru the exhibits...then our OG won the challenge that rewarded us with a jug of Super Cold Tiger! this Tiger is much much nicer than the can versions anytime anywhere...very smooth and more fragrant! hahaz...my ogl was arrowed to down 1 glass...spin on the spot 15 rounds...then down 1 more glass....in the end...the bin was used...if u all know what i mean! wahahaz...

after TigerLIVE, we headed to Vivocity to look for our next clue...which was supposedly with a plain-clothed councillor! how to find in vivo! it is like so freaking big! cutting the long story short, in the end it was at planet fitness...where we had an intro to the facilities....should have guessed it since they were one of the sponsors...hahaz...next...we headed to Merlion Park...had to get 5 strangers to pose in such a way that they are spouting out the water! hahaz...funny! then headed to cenotaph for some Coke-sucking with airy straws...hahaz...had lunch @ the break-dancing area for a short while before heading over to suntec...the next challenge was to find out details of a product based on serial numbers and product numbers...in the end...we seeked help from the store manager...and he was super helpful! =)...left suntec to head for aloha changi...out pit stop!

we were the first group to reach there by bus...cos we heard that some groups simply shared cab from tampines to aloha changi...hahaz...not a bad idea also...but we had alot of fun during the bus trip abt cold jokes... rested a while in the chalet playing card games and everything before it was time for SP session again...this time it was a one-on-one chat...hahaz...after a while...the councillors came to promote rose and choc for the guys to buy for the gals...

after SP was the barberque session...our group ate very fast cos the fire was good and used our points for bidding early so that we could retreat back into the chalet to rest...hahaz...by 11pm like that...it was out OG turn for fright night...this fright night was better than sports camp one i must agree...i was paired together with tony and enqi...finished the fright night and returned back to the chalet...

after nua-ing a bit...we gathered in the gals room for more games...indian poker...终极密码...all the way till 0430...before we all went to sleep...

day 3
today was supposed to be sentosa day! day of the sun, sand and sea! the sand and sea was there...but no sun! cos it was raining! for practically the entire morning! but for the 3 games that my OG played...we all did well! caterpillar poker we won...frisbee we drew...then memory pairs we won again...but think the war games part out side kenna...hahaz...=P

we boarded the bus all wet and sandy...and rushed back to the chalet to wash up for SP night...dinner was at the Changi Beach Club...and the pageant was held there too! hahaz...after the events there...we all headed back to the chalet for the last night of the camp!

after changing into more comfy attire...we walked to changi village for supper with some yr 3 snrs i think...hehez...got zi cha and dim sum...quite filling! then somehow...the snrs made us walk 1 super big loop to changi beach...where we played alot alot of games there...along with forfeits and laughs...during the meantime...gerard got knocked out by the chivas regal...hahaz...by 0630...we left changi beach for the hawker centre for some nasi lemak before heading back to the chalet for abt 2 hrs of nap! wahahaz...

day 4
woke up @ ard 9 in the morning for the prize presentation...our OG got 2nd! and i got the best freshie award...hahaz...unexpected...but i guess the skill of 自 high was very useful! hahaz! after break camp...went to century square with my OG for lunch before sharing cab with ee kai to come back home for some rest! hahaz...with that...chess camp was over!

waitin and waitin for the photos to become available for posting...but well...still not yet ready...but shall just go on and write about Sports Camp 2007 first!

this was the first FOC that i attended...so was pretty unsure of what to expect etc...but everything turn out quite well! I totally enjoyed myself and the company of new frens that i made...

30/06/07 - Pre-Camp
this special session was set aside by the MOMO (name for the management and organising committee), so that all the lame ice-breakers that supposed to be played on the first day can just be skipped...so went for this pre-camp-cum-dinner...

met up with wanxuan my OGL @ city hall mrt there and met up with my group...KURO! we were introduced to the theme of this year's camp...secret society...so our house was YAKUZA! the other houses were The Gangbang, Sopranos and 白莲教 (Bai Lian Jiao)...our sister OGs were Yaro and Zaro...=)...did some introduction and walked all the way to TCC near SMU for some ice-breaker games...hahaz...then our dinner, Canadian 2-4-1 Pizza, came and we had a quick dinner before moving over to the open space near the Cenotaph for a camp-level briefing...and then the night was over!

02/07/07 - Camp Day 1
first day of camp! reported for camp @ MPSH 2...dressed in my house colour...RED! hahaz...met the rest of my OG who could not come during the pre-camp...and played some ice-breaker games...as well as learn cheers...hahaz....after some introduction by the MOMO to the camp...the day's activities finally started! =)...first up was pool games! played several games at the NUS pool...as well as had some dive try-outs along the pool...hahaz...tried out this life-guard surfing board that was quite cool...but also picked up 3 injuries...on the first day! argh...

after the pool games...we had a session for introduction to the various martial arts available in NUS...that was quite an eye-opener and also quite interesting...hahaz...although it was about 9pm liaoz...but the night was still young! we proceeded with the night games all the way until 3am! hahaz...the games were quite fun...got steamboat mu tou ren...tissue papoer volleyball...paintbrush sumo wrestling...pass the items etc...hahaz...loooooong day...a longer day ahead tomolo!

03/07/07 - Camp Day 2
the highlight today is primarily the various sea sports try-outs! first stop was @ kallang SSC...but before the place open...we played some games there...and our house ic, jamie...was dared to do a SUPER DUPER CRAZY forfeit for some pts for the house! and he did...shall not describe it here...might be revolting to some...=P...tried out dragon boating and kayaking @ kallang there before proceeding for some soccer fun @ the Cage...hahaz...a little no link...but who cares...it was fun!

after lunch, we went over to east coast SSC there for windsurfing! it was a long long time since i last windsurfed...so it was quite fun to try it out again! hahaz...i still can survive larz...unlike last time when level 1 course...the wind was crazily strong lorz! hahaz...after trying out the activities there @ east coast, went back to NUS...

had the SP session for 1 hr like that i think...before proceeding with the mass dance session...the dance was choreographed by one of my OG councillor, yijun...then we all rested for an early night! =)...

04/07/07 - Camp Day 3
today is sentosa day! it was a nice and sunny day...time for all the various beach games! the games that we played were fun...dumb...disgusting...hilarious...etc! and the forfeits that came along with it was crazy too! wahahaz...the day activities all cumulated in the telematch that we had...but i think all the groups totally enjoyed the day activities...after every thing...it was time to wash up and get ready for SP night!

during SP night, there was the reveal...then was the buffet dinner catered for us...then came the mass dance on the beach itself! after this...the councillors led us into this room where they screened movies while they dispatched the SP couples for the fright night...personally the fright night was not that scary larz...hahaz...maybe it was just me...but at least the councillors managed to scare the girls...after the long night...it was time to get back to school...reached at about 2am plus back @ MPSH 2...after the briefings and wash-up...finally got to have some sleep @ 3am plus...

05/07/07 - Camp Day 4
had some land try-outs...had archery...aerobics and followed by floorball...should have more activities coming up one...but the rain came...and i missed the canoe polo try-out! argh...sigh...spent the rest of the morning playing games inside MPSH 2....hahaz...

today is the start of the amazing race! hahaz...after all the briefing...we were introduced to our first puzzle...that really stumped us...and slowed us down alot...after solving it...we headed to the student lounge @ YIH for a pool challenge...and got the clue to our next destination...guess what...climb adventure!!! i was just here on sunday! hahaz...but there was a huge choke point here as only one group can do the climbing at any one time...so some minor glitch here...did some climbing on my lousy pair of asics shoes and moved on to the next place...snow city! wahahaz! it was super cold inside! but i had alot of fun sliding down the ice slope! wahahaz! wheeeeeeeee! after that we went straight to HomeTeamNS @ Bukit Batok for some air rifle shooting! wahahaz...this amazing race is really some fun-packed! hahaz...

after the air-rifle...we rest for dinner before heading down to the DHL Hot Air Balloon...there...2 of our group would be viewing a number that the rest of us formed using cyalume sticks on the ground...we rushed straight to east coast soon after to clock in our timing for the first leg of the race...hehez...after some rest...it was time for night cycling! starting off from east coast...we went for some supper @ geylang...eating the famous 豆浆油条Dou Jiang You Tiao...and something funny happened along the red light district because of what one of my councillor michelle said...super diaoz then! hahaz....after geylang...we headed to suntec for some K-Boxing! Guess wad time it was...2am! and there were groups and groups of sweaty guys and gals singing crazy in the rooms! how cool was that! wahahaz! =P...after K-Box we went to the Supreme Court, Registry of Marriage, and the statue of Sir Stamford Raffles @ Victoria Concert Hall, before the open area underneath Esplanade Boulevard...after that...we cycled back to Costa Sands to catch some much needed rest in the Costa Ballroom! Along the way, one of my councillors fell asleep and crashed into a drain...fractured his pinky in the incident...sigh...

06/07/07 - Camp Day 5
woke up inside the Costa Ballroom after 2 hrs of quick napping...and got ready for the 2nd leg of the Amazing Race!

the first station was Ski 360...where some of the group would be pulled by the rope and having to communicate letters to those of us by the shore to get a word...after that...we cycled all the way back to Kit Runners...drop off our bikes...and proceeded to cineleisure there...at the *scape park...i tried out the mini dirt bike! super fun! hahaz...but think i would want to stick to 4 wheels...for now...bleahz...our next stop was SAF Yacht Club...for some banana boating! hehez...achelli...everyone from the group supposed to have a go at it one...but...due to time constraint...only 5 from our group managed to have a try...and we were off to our last stop...queenstown swimming complex for a confidence jump...but...due to time constraint again...our last stop was cancelled also...so we headed back to NUS...in the end...we were to 3rd grp back to sch and had time to bathe properly and change into our pyjamas for the pyjamas theme party!

we proceeded to xPlosion @ the NUS Guild house for the Sports Camp Bash...hahaz...the pagaent was quite long and draggy...after the pagaent ended...the party finally started...our house opened 2 bottles of bacardi to mix to drink...the deejay that night was not bad...so in the end had quite a fun night of partying there...albeit to little space...hahaz...left xPlosion @ around 3 am like that to head back to MPSH 2 for some rest...

07/07/07 - Camp Day 6
the last day of camp started quite late because of the late night that everyone had during the bash yesterday...once everyone was up...we had dinner and got ready for the last 1/2 day of activity! we had Olympic Games...which consisted of a couple of games...namely 4-way Tug-Of-War amongst the 4 houses and Push Ball. Push Ball was super violent...for those of u who know what i mean...cos people were simply just throwing themselves onto the giant ball! hahaz...but luckily...no one was injured and Yakuza won! Hehez...during the prize presentation ceremony...there were a few laughs because of the prizes that was given out...

Last but not least...Best House went to Yakuza! Woohoooo! So exciting....nanananananana!...how we won it...i really dunno! but we still won! hahaz...the entire house received $300 worth of of Vil'age voucher...so each OG got $100 worth! hahaz...

after breaking...went to the subway @ YIH for some food with my OG...and went back home to rest after a long and tiring camp!

something very very weird happened to me on tues...woke up in the morning with my vision in a whirl and my head in a whirl...felt like the world was spinning...tried to sit up...but it was too giddy...really felt like puking...cannot walk...it was like i lost my natural balance...it was quite scary then...

after lying on the bed for another hour or so...it was slightly better...then stumbled my way down to see the doctor...only to find out that it might be an infection in the ear nerves...and for me...i was bed-ridden for the day...hahaz...

sports climbing level 2

was roped into this by js...who chanced upon the course while climbing @ climb adventure...the 2 day course was from 9 jun to 10 jun...held @ climb adventure which moved from keppel towers @ tanjong pagar to the west coast recreation centre.

i remember the first day...got li koon to pick me up...then while mounting his bike...my right leg accidentally came into contact with his exhaust pipe...then my calf there kenna a burn mark about 2 cm X 4 cm! Ouch! it was pain lorz!

then climb adventure now dun provide climbing shoes liaoz...but i din know...so me and li koon borrowed a size 6 climbing shoe from amir...although it could fit li koon...it could barely fit me...but for the first climb...i endure...took me super long to wear it because of the tight fit...but after the first climb...the pain from my toe was so excruciating...i just decided to climb barefoot and also on my slippers for the rest of the day...2nd day brought a pair of running shoes...haiz...but at least better than barefoot...cos very easy will get a cramp at the arch of the feet one...=P...

anyway...in summary...this is what we learnt for level 2

1. normal lead climbing
2. traversing lead climbing
3. ascending and abseiling using prusik cords
4. multi-pitch anchoring and belaying

also got to learn unofficially about self-belaying from one of js's fren...=)...

think now with level 2...might re-ignite the motivation to climb...cos can lead climb...more interesting...hahaz...then yesterday went down to peninsula plaza to get a pair of cheap climbing shoes...next time can try out while lead climbing @ safra yishun! hahaz...

just quitted my work from IRAS w.e.f. 1st may...cos i started school liaoz....nus special term...so needed some time to rest to get ready for school...

during my last day on the 30th, got a farewell treat from my manager @ swensens united square...and also an esprit t-shirt from my S45 team...=)...wahahz...think might be seeing them soon...

decided to go back to iras for work during mondays cos cos that day free and also for so extra cash...and to help out also larz...altho the pay not very high...it is the company that counts sometimes...=)...

u guessed it! my dad bought a uPaPa for the family to use...since almost all of us complain of backaches...shoudleraches...thigh-ache...etc...was considering btw the OTO Tataki and the OSIM uPaPa...in the end got the uPaPa...cos comparatively more compfortable...now the uPaPa is "stationed" in my room...and the drumming effect very shiok...can fall asleep during the massage one...wahahaz...=P

after wearing my asics kayano 11 for 2 years...finally got a change of shoes! =) the old one the GEL and SpeVa like lose their use liaoz...was waiting for kayano 13 for so so so so long...then it finally came out this liaoz! wahahaz...wanted the fiery red model one...but dun have...so settled for the lightning blue model instead...new toilet or not...but new shoes compared with old shoes really make a difference! the cushioning is qutie significant! hahaz...with my new shoes...more running for me! wahahaz...wanna train for the AHM and subsequently the standard chartered run! target spotted!

news of my scholarship application finally out! offered the nus undergraduate scholarship...so meaning no tuition fees plus $3,600 allowance per annum! wahahaz...the most important part was the tution fees part...so now dun have to take loan from bank liaoz...my sis that time take loan quite troublesome when repaying...with my ns savings...should be able to last in university for quite a while ba! =) only gotta slog to maintain CPA of 3.5...but the good thing is that it is bondless! hehez...

guess what...jizheng the temporary clerical officer 1.0 has upgraded to jizheng the temporary tax officer 2.0! wahahaz...now the "lao jiao" temp around...helping the tax officers to handling the reprocessing of old tax cases and tax credit claims...but too bad...no upgrade in pay...still the same meagre 6.5 an hour...well...at least it feels good to have an upgrade! =P

went to the nus open house again (last time was 2005) this morning...

since my course (chemical engineering) was settled and i dun intend to change it...so only left the campus life part to go look look see see liaoz...hahaz...saw tze at the food bazaar as i was walking in and she was running about to tie-up the loose ends at the bazaar...went into the student life hall...walked around...and saw shuying and andy...talked abit before continuing on to meet junhao a distance later...

think more or less wanna join rovers ba...wanna go experience trekking and the good old mother nature...hahaz...camps wise...choosing...got engine camp...sports camp...union camp...rovers camp...hahaz...since all the camp clash with special term 2...think i will be changing my plans...gonna take 2 modules in ST 1 while leaving ST 2 free to go attend the camps...wahahaz!

after the long wait...the IT Show is finally here! rushed down from novena to city hall after work yesterday...and boy was city hall packed...the human crowd was crazy...very slow moving...then i just zig-ziag my way past a lot of people...but coming up from citylink...the escalator was malfunctioning...then people had to walk up...SLOWLY...then as i approached the escalator for the overbridge to suntec...there was a huge congestion...the escalator was malfunctioning AGAIN...after reaching suntec...went straight to the convention hall...

once at level 4...very focused one...SAMSUNG booth...tried out the YP-K3 player first hand for a while...felt that it quite lived up to my expectations...bought it! At $208...with the freebies...hahaz...it is really very sleak lor! have been eyeing this model for super long since the s.korea launch...was just waiting and waiting for it to come...finally it is here! normal retail price was supposed to be $248 without the freebies...luckily the IT Show was here!

after getting the player...knew i had to get a pair of in-ear earphones...to do justice to the player...cos i knew the bundle came with blah earphones...walked around....sennheiser $129...altec lansing $179...shure...$429...creative $35...panasonic $45...it the end chose the panasonic one...hahaz...mp3 player...settled!

last but not least...wanted to get a razr mouse for quite a while liaoz...super nice lar...bought the diamondback salamander red for my sis during SITEX last year...simply loved it...wanted to get 1 for myself...but the normal retail price is always so expensive! since now got fair...went to grab the diamondback plasma blue...hahaz...

i think all of my frens know that i was a tank platoon commander by training...so when i was at tiong bahru plaza and passed this stall that sold wooden model...one designed stood out very obviously to me...a tank! wahahaz...bought the kit for $7.10 and went home to fix it...took me the entire afternoon to do it...and as it was a cheap set...should know that not all the things fit properly and perfectly...but it was okay larz...when i was done...the mbt (main battle tank) looked very cute! wahahaz...

actually, i am quite sad that the amx-13 sm1 tank is gonna be phased out...but guessed it was an eventuality because of practical reason...but well...the old dame has accompanied me through 75% of my ns life...can say that it is my old fren...buddy...etc...must sayang it everytime one...else it will throw tantrums at u one...hahaz...like a car...actually quite proud that i one of the last few batches to be sm1 trained...it was memorable times...

today's work was C-R-A-Z-Y! started work after the CNY break and was really very lethargic from the long break...today only us 3 TCOs(temporary clerical officers) were arounds...cos Auntie Jumiati, the admin officer in-charge of us...took leave today...then came the news from my asst manager...a new TCO was coming in today...and auntie ju was not around...so since i was the more experienced(a little bit more than 3 weeks only!!!!) among us 3 TCOs...i had to teach the basics to this new TCO...gasps! also cos auntie ju was not around...siti and mahez was looking for me to clarify queries...then i had to coach naresh in the basics...add in my own stack of forms to process...the morning and after was totally crazy...din have much time to do my own work...so swarmed with the other stuff...just so glad that that day is over...i survived...and auntie ju is coming back to work tomolo! hahaz...

after receiving ang pows until my hands was tired on monday...(just j/king...=P)...i prepared to go bai nian with the oac people yesterday! =)

went for a swim at SAFRA in the morning...then went back home to change and get ready to leave...drove to Tiong Bahru Plaza to pick up pg, cons and shuyun to go to tze's house...met js at the void deck...just as i was walking to the lift...realised that i left my mandarin oranges at home! argh!...but managed to smoke thru in the end...hahaz...

at tze's house...played blackjack with me being the banker...won a little...then lost a lot...before winning back my captital plus some profit! hahaz...moo mom, shuyun and sophia that corner very lucky one lorz...think got 10 over blackjacks there...hahaz...but i also win on a couple of 'gor-leng' too! =)...left midway to send jw and pick up wanling from Tiong Bahru Plaza...while zm went to his teacher there to collect ang pow...hahaz...but he came back to pick the rest up cos only he and i got car...

left tze's house at around 5.15 like that...tze could not come cos she wanted to mug her essay...|||o...shuyun and wanling had to leave...so the rest of us went to sophia's house...i brought my tea set from china along...and it came to be of good use at sophia's house...where we all tried the tea that i brought and the tea that sophia's father had...

after some food and tea...zw and likoon came to join us...we all set about our 'activites'...me, sophia, sophia's mum and (likoon + pg + cons) started with mahjong...while the rest continued with black jack with sophia's dad, sophil and sophie...ended the games at around 2220...then they brought out the cake to celebrate my birthday...hahaz...received the nike t-shirt that has a shade of green that reminds me of a certain 2 years of my life...=P...then ate the cake...hahaz...thanks guys!

after everything...sent pei geok home and came back home to rest early cos gotta wake up early for work today! and like that...the nost significant parts of CNY '07 was over! sigh...another year...

finally had some time to update my blog after a busy period...so tired after work every day...

last sunday...went to send off siao hui @ changi airport...she was returning back to melbourne to continue with her studies there...dropped off my parents at clementi...before driving all the way to toa payoh to pick up benji...then driving all the way to changi airport...in the end...it was only ben, zhemin, li koon, jingwen and i who could go...cos the rest were all tied up with projects...quizzes and test the next day...and other stuff...

tuesday...0430...woke up to the 2 alarms that i set the night before...then changed and left...driving to changi airport (again) to send wen jin off this time. guess most of my blog-readers dunno who wen jin is...he is my buddy from armour...fellow tankee...instructor...very close to him...my nickname was chicken...his was cow...or ah gu...cos he everything also use gu-lat or brute strength to do things...so we were the brother gu and brother ji that our colleagues know! hahaz...this time he going to monash...so went to send him off in the early hours...after the sending off...drove all the way back home...rested a while then went to work again...was quite drained the whole day...

just completed my first full week working at IRAS...currently in the Enforcement Division, Payment Enforcement Branch, Withholding Tax Team...doing data entry...keying all the IR37 and IR37C forms that the tax-payers send in...quite tiring...waking up early in the morning at 0630 to get ready...leaving house at 0700 to go to work...i work from 0800 to 1830 on Mon-Thu and 0830 to 1800 on Fri...including the 1 hr of OT every day that i do (not at 1.5X but at normal rate)...reaching home at about 1930...dead tired from facing the computer for the whole day...did OT cos really got quite a lot of forms to key in that has been stucked because of various problems...if only tax payers can read the instructions before filling in the forms...that will make life so much easier for us...and all those atrocious handwriting that nobody can decipher...sighz...well...at least Jan is over...Feb onwards the pay is 6.50/hour...hahaz...wish me luck! =P

yesterday went for a lunch outing to celebrate our dear lily's birthday...me, zhemin, koonz, ben, tze, jingwen, shuying, meiting, sanmei, weishan, siaohui...met at somerset mrt before going to rice table...tze hwee lorz...cannot communicate properly one...make everybody wait for her...hahaz...=P...

ate the lunch buffet there until about 1415 like that...then tze, weishan, meiting and jingwen left...we walked to mind cafe near paradiz there to play some intellectual games! constance and yee hung joined us at the cafe...hahaz...started off with "i am the boss" which was a scheming game...all of us refused to deal with ben cos he was so scheming...in the end...he had the least money in the game! hahaz...then played citadel...which was another very scheming game...quite fun...cos li koon the birthday boy...always kenna killed by the assasin...gold stolen by the thief...or his precious good cards taken by the magician...no matter wad character he was! wahahaz...should have seen his face! hahaz...it was quite fun! then got "say what" in which yee hung was so natural in tricking siao hui to say "rock"...while we all schemed likoon again...making him "stand"...wahahaz...while...zhemin and i dug our own graves...hahaz....quite a fun day! =P

was tranferring documents between my computer and my sis computer when i realised that i was infected with a stupid virus that changes alot of my icons into a panda holding 3 incense sticks...darn...plus several other files...so it also meant that my sis computer also kenna...the starting-up got problem...then when try to back-up the stuff into the portable hard-disk...realised that both computer unable to detect it as is "malfunctioned" as stated by the computer...hard-drive corrupted! double darn!

then when i try to re-format my sis computer...run into more trouble as got problem reading from the hard drive too! triple darn! i seriously am quite jinxed with computers recently...my own computer got so many problems with my unreliable network...now this...my sister is so so so going to kill me...monday gotta send the laptop back to the Fujitsu Service centre...luckily new laptop...so still got warranty...the repair should be free...i hope...

but first things first...tomolo gonna go down to sim lim square to get a replacement 2.5" hard disk to replace the one that corrupt...argh...

My First B'Day Present!

Hahaz...although it is still 1 month away from my birthday...but i got my first present...from my sis! hahaz...she bought me a new watch! since my watch kenna destroyed during my days operating in the tank...haven worn a watch for quite a while...so she took me to City Chain @ Vivocity to look for a watch for my 21st b-day! Hahaz...Got this model from TIMEX...quite cool! hahaz...she say this b-day present will last for 5 years...so 5 years no more present from her...cos this watch set her back by 177 bucks! so giam one! hahaz...but i like the watch! thx sis!

After a referral from RecruitExpress...went to work @ Civil Service College @ Buona Vista there...reported to the HR department there...then was sent to their AV Team...primary job scope was to help out in the installation of a security-based login system for the users there...needed to go from computer to computer...but most of the time when we went up to the office to do the installation...the user not around one...so quite sian...took 3 days to compete the task...then in the end was used to do manual labour to move comdemned materials to the store room...sweat sweat sweat then freeze to death in the office...hahaz...and office was just a small cubicle that i shared with the other temp for this period...at 5.5 per hour...think we are quite fully utilised by them...hahaz...but the week over liaoz...quite tired from all the carrying of equipment...next week...i will be unemployed again...oh no! hahaz...well...just continue looking for jobs lorz...hahaz...

Happy Birthday!

today went to meet up with 29th to celebrate the birthday for wan ling and siao hui...suppposed to meet at 1315 one...then in the end...only me and zheng wei were on time...maybe add in sophia and constance ba...hahaz...ming juan the organiser was also late lorz...=P

in the end, it was ryan, zhe min, ben, li koon, yu jin, zheng wei and i for the guys...then the gals had hui fen, sophia, constance, siao hui, pei geok, ming juan, wan ling and shu ying who joined us much later...went to eat a high tea buffet @ Siam Kitchen...cost us 14 bucks each...plus the cost of the 2 presents...talked and caught up a bit with them over lunch...and we talked a lot about our crazy china trip...the funny ones...hahaz...after that went the walk around suntec where wanling and sophia bought some clothes from G2000...while the remaining guys (yu jin, zhe min, li koon and i) were chatting with the other girls about our shen zhen trip...

split up from there and rushed back home to drive the car to fetch my sis from work...now i am like the chaffeur for her liaoz...bleahz...

Looking for a job

since coming back from Shen Zhen...has been looking for a temp job until i start school in mid-May...search the classified ads...but the companies NEVER reply one lorz...then went to register at Jobstreet...which is like a directory of job agencies lorz...in the end liased with Recruit Express...

the initial offer was a QC checker or sth like that...at Tuas...plus the shift is 11-7...that is 11pm to 7am! what the...crazy hours...and paying only 5 per hour...no thanks man...then the next one is an AV Assistant at Civil Service College...normal working hours...paying only 5.5 per hour...1 week assignment...well...since nth to do and still trying to source for other temp jobs...just take first lorz...so yup...my first job since NS! hahaz...

starting work on monday...should be okay larz...since all i am required to do is to install programmes into their computers...nth can go wrong right? =P

My New Room!

in preparation for my uni studies...and also to bring a conclusion to my 2 years of ns life...did major spring cleaning of my room and also changed some furniture...

in total...spent 4 whole days to do the clearing up! argh...din know that i had so much junk in my room...emptied bags and bags of rubbish...hahaz...but at least i know that my room is much cleaner and neater after this...after the cleaning up...removed the table and cupboard from my room...in preparation for my new furniture! hahaz...

my new furniture was from ikea...a GALANT L-shaped table...a LACK display cabinet...and an ALLACK chair...the L-shaped table idea came from my office cubicle that i had in Officer Training...really wanted the space to display my things properly...hahaz...then the display cabinet can help to do some space sorting for me! everything i bought was black-brown or black...hahaz....just like the colour...=P

the furniture finally arrived on Sunday...and after all the assembling...it was complete! hahaz...add in about an hour of re-arranging and moving of things...my new room was complete! hahaz...with my sword case hanging near my bed...i like my new room! wahahaz!

Shen Zhen-Hong Kong Trip!

After my extended ORD, went for a 8-day trip to Shen Zhen with the other male instructors + Tian Yu. More or less like an ORD trip...a relaxation trip after 2 years of NS life...hahaz...travelling with my red passport for once after flying simply through my 11B and nominal roll...=P

Day 1
Took off from S'pore to HK on a JetStar Asia flight...first time flying budget...real nightmare for me...cos the space was so constricted! my legs like going to die! argh...and so bored during the 3 hours flight...could only sleep and sleep and try to sleep...hahaz...

reached HK International Airport and linked-up with Yu Jin who went back to Shen Zhen 5 days before us...then as we were buying tickets for the bus trip...saw hordes of girls running about...we thought...must be some boy group or something...then went to poke our nose into it to find out...as it turns out...it was the Taiwanese group Fei Lun Hai...hahaz...it was crazy lar...the girls preparing the "convoy" of maxi-cabs to follow the group! after that...took a bus...to Shang Shui where we took the MTR to Luo Hu to cross the immigrations...once through...went to the hotel to unpack before going over to Yu Jin house which was just across the street! met his granny and aunts at his house there...it was the 19th floor and the wind was super chilly! hahaz...before long...we left to meet up with yujin's cousin who brought us to a restaurant for dinner...after a little bit of walking at night...went back early cos benji was not feeling very well...

Day 2
Woke up quite late and took quite a while for breakfast before we made our way to the Minsk Aircraft Carrier Theme Park...just an old carrier from the Soviet Union bought by china then subsequently converted into a tourist attraction...spent the rest of the day there before leaving to meet up with Yujin's dad...went for dinner at a local beef hot-pot restaurant...

Day 3
Woke up early this time to check-out and transfer out bulky luggage to Yujin's house before we made our way to the bus terminal for the bus trip to Hui Lai. It was a 3 hour bus ride...and the bus was travelling super fast! if i not wrong...the average speed of the bus was 130km/h...reached Hui Lai at noon and met up with Yujin's uncle who was there...went for lunch at Hui Lai Hotel...after dinner went to visit Yujin's maternal granny who Li Koon picked up some medicine for his mother...after which his uncles brought us to take a look at the largest coal-powered powerstation in construction where we took some funny photos...and also the wind farms there before heading to the seaside town nearby...took more photos there...soaked in the beautiful sunset and tucked in to the simply wonderful seafood there! super fresh! super succulent! super sweet! i have never ever eaten such sweet and delicious crab meat! i think only the other guys can feel the sensations that i am writing about now! hahaz...the night was spent visiting yujin's aunt, uncle's house before heading back to the hotel...did not walk around at night cos his relatives said that it was not so safe for outlanders like us...

Day 4
Woke up and went to bade farewell to Yujin's granny and took a bus to Shan Tou...linked up with Yujin's uncle(another one...so many uncles and aunts! hahaz..=P) who brought up to eat some Teochew delicacies and brought us for shopping...bought my Kung-Fu Tea Set there...so someday can drop by my house for some Kung-fu Tea! hahaz...then went to an island near Shan Tou for some photos...at night...went to eat snake! first time eating snake meat...went for the experience...gave the poisonous-snake meat a miss since my stomach was not feeling well then...hahaz...after dinner met up with Yujin's cousin who was studying in Shan Tou...but was in the PLA for 5 or 8 years forgot liaoz...hahaz...she very good at bargaining...esp during the rickshaw rides...respect respect...the night ended when Yujin's uncle brought the tea leaves that we had pre-ordered at a shop near his house...

Day 5
Checked out in the morning and went to take the bus back to Shen Zhen to check into the same hotel again...the rest of the day was spent touring Lian Hua Shan...which had quite a view of the city...at night went to Dong Men where we shopped for lots of stuff...wind-breaker...shoes...hahaz...

Day 6
Woke up and lingo-ed with Yujin before proceeding to Window of the World...a theme park which has the world's monument in miniature scale...took quite a while to walk through the entire park! took the monorail there...went up the mock-up Effiel Tower there which was 1/3 the height of the actual tower in Paris...and took a roller coaster ride which was crazy cos the safety belt cannot be fastened and Jing Song had to hold onto the carabiner tightly for dear life! hahaz...soon our time spent in Shen Zhen would come to an end...

Day 7
took a cab to the Huang Gang Immigration point and it was simply crowded! cos is was a Saturday and the weekend of Christmas...so it was super crowded...was stuck at the immigration for 1 hr before crossing over to Hong Kong! Took a long bus ride to our hotel in Kowloon...upon reaching the hotel...Zheng Wei, Zhemin, Li Koon, Jing Song and I did a fast march over to the Hang Heung outlet about 300 units away from our hotel...hahaz...all for the egg rolls and the lao-po bing...after dropping our stuff in the hotel...went to meet up with JS, ZW and ZM's student exchange frens...went to this food court where there was a Toa Payoh Chicken Rice Stall! Tried out the Laksa Set Meal at HK$48...but it was not nice one...not fragrant...not spicy...not shiok one...hahaz...but for the fun of it one lar! hahaz...after dinner walked to Victoria Harbour to watch the Harbour Firework and Lights show...the scenery from Kowloon overlooking Hong Kong Island was simply amazing...thought i felt that some neon light decorations was overdone...went shopping at Esprit Outlet where i bought a shirt for HK$229...quite a bargain...then went to Lan Kwai Fong with Tianyu, Yujin, Ben and Li Koon...took the cab back to the hotel and waited for the other 3 to come back...hahaz...all of us squeezed into the room of size 3m X 3m i think! it was that small! 8 guys in such a small room! shared the bed with Li Koon...who curled up at night and gave me like 30cm of bed space only! argh...wanted to kill him...but that din beat the snoring orchestra by Tian Yu and Jing Song...it was thunderous! hahaz...it was like 30 mins before i could get used to the snoring and go to sleep...

Day 8
woke up early to get ready to head to the airport...bade farewell to Yujin, Tian Yu, Ben and Jing Song before the 4 of us made our way to the Kowloon Station to take the Airport Express...a high-speed rail to the airport...the ticket cost us HK$90! hahaz...reached the airport but found that it was to early to check-in...so ate our breakfast at the MacDonalds at HKIA which cost about HK$16 a meal...before proceeding to go check-in...before long...we were on the plane ready to head home...the flight was just as uncomfortable as the flight here...really cannot tahan budget flight...next time should just spend a little more for the comfort...haix...at 1500...finally touched down at Changi...we were home!

Epilogue
All in all...the 8 days was quite fun...spent travelling around with the guys...a nice way to relax and enjoy oneself after 2 yrs of NS! must really thank Yujin for helping to make the arrangement and his relatives for being such good hosts!

after 2 years of ns...finally could get a new phone! hahaz...was stuck with my Nokia 3350 and Nokia 6510 for the entire period...really pathetic phones....but no choice since the SAF have this strict policy of no camera phones for security reasons...being the obedient soldier that i am...of course i never had a camera phone! =P

so after coming back from my Shen Zhen-Hong Kong trip, went with my sister to change our phones. went to change alley and got for myself the Samsung Z400...a slider phone...a proper phone since ns! It can also act as my mp3 player...since i re-equipped it with a 1GB micro-SD card...hahaz...next time when saved enough money then go buy a proper mp3 player ba...hahaz...

Post-NS Thoughts...

Having gone thru 2 years of national service...i can say that it was quite an experience...so let me do some recap and talk about some of my post-ns thoughts...

BMT
BMT started on 060105 for me...that faithful day when i went to Pulau Tekong...was assigned to Hawk Company, which every one calls the "White Horse" Company...haix...dunno why...but was in platoon 3 along with some of my school mates and got to know a few other friends from the platoon as well as the section. the 9 weeks there went and past quite fast and before we knew it...we were getting ready for out passing out parade into full-fledge PRIVATES!

OCS
After BMT, i was lucky to have been selected to go to OCS as an officer cadet. i was part of the 59/05 batch of officer cadets...assigned to Delta Wing...again called the "White Horse" wing cos Eng Siang was there...hahaz...again was in Platoon 3 under CPT Justiin Ang(the spelling is correct), LTA Kelvin "What-Thumb-Is-It" Kua, LTA Bryan and LTA Hairi. Eng Siang was in my section...but as a platoon...think we really bonded quite well and performed pretty well...but it was sad that PLT 3 was disbanded after Service Term cos of the small size after we left for the other Formations. During one of the days before the end of Service Term, CPT Justiin sat down to talk to all of us and praised us for performing exceptionally well...parting our ways with a salute...in returning the salute...i cant help but to feel so proud of what we have all achieved in this 14 weeks as Delta Platoon 3. Met with CPT Justiin during ACPC and he said that if he was to re-assemble the old Delta Platoon 3 during Pro Term...PLT 3 would have beaten the others(including the Commandos) hands down...that was the pride that he had in our platoon...it felt good...it was also in Delta that i was awarded the Best Knowledge and Wing Best...=P...

SOA
during my Pro-Term...i went to School of Armour for training as an Armour Officer...then was selected into the Tank Officer Cadet Course as a Tankee...it was the starting of my 1.5 years in Sungei Gedong Camp...training was tough...because of the sheer pace of training that we have to learn everything from scratch be competent enough to get commission! the 21 weeks spent there was not at all easy...but the fun that i had with the rest of the 11 tankees and 37 AI cadets was amazing! hahaz...the live-firing with the 75mm Main Gun...the "BOOM" was just...awe-inspiring! Went to Wallaby for my overseas training...absolutely memorable...for the fun and mistakes that i made there...but the scenery was simply unforgettable! Upon completion of training...the moment that we have all been waiting for...Commissioning Parade...was here! To be on the SAFTI Parade Square...wearing our smart No. 1 uniform...adorning our black beret with so much pride...it was unbelievable...how we felt that we knew we commissioned...after 48 long weeks...to wear the rank of 2LT after so long...simply...awesome...

SOA - Pt 2
As an officer, i was appointed as an instructor back at SOA to train Tank Cadets...same place...different roles...different feeling...i can say that i was during this period that i learnt the most and grew a lot from...taking the 01/06 and 02/06 TOCC under me...i leave SOA knowing that i tried to do the best that i did and i am leaving with OTW a better place than when i first came...the stress and challenges as an officer...as an instructor...as a coach...as a student still...moulded me and provided me with lots of working opportunities...the year as an instructor just went by so fast....and before i knew it...it was time for me to go...my original ORD was on 051106...but i extended to 051206...alot of people asked me why the decision...simply put...i felt a certain responsibility to be there to help in the transition and not just leave when time is up...it was something that i felt i had to do and be responsible for...

After-Thoughts
MAJ Pat, my OC at Officer Training Wing, School of Armour, asked me what were my 5 key takeaways from my tour as a Tank Instructor...to which i listed the following...

Tank Skills Having gone through training as a cadet...i have always felt that what i possessed was only the bare minimal for me to have commission as competent...but never was really skilled or good...so being an instructor and training cadets provided me with the drive to continually learn and brush up on my skills in order to fulfil my role as an instructor. After 2 batches...i would say that i have improved...but there was always more room to improve further...the learning never ends...

Paperwork and Planning My role as an instructor was not all about training only...there was much paperwork and lesson planning involved and i am proud to say that most of the lesson plans that are in use now have my name in it as the one who produced it...and my skill in handling paper work has also improved during the year...

Networking In the army, and in the outside world, networking is extremely important if tasks are to be completed...there are alot of times when ad-hoc task pops up and we cannot handle on our own...then we had to depend on our connections with other people to ask for help in order to get things done. It does certainly help to have frens around...you never know when you need them and they need you...

Responsibilty of having surbordinates As an instructor, we do not only instruct in terms of skills...but also instruct in terms of certain values...ethics...cos we are certainly slightly more experienced in the army (by 6 months at least) compared to the cadets...what we have seen and what we have experienced...they would not know...so we try to equip them with what ever is necessary to be a good officer...in terms of skills and values...My cadets from 02/06, who are from the JC batch one year junior to me, once told me...comparing themselves and the 5 JC instructors...they can really see the difference that one year of officership has made...the maturity that we possess as compared to them...guess army really does make people grow...

Friendship This especially to Wen Jin, Shun Hua, Eugene and Derek, my fellow instructors from the 02/05 batch...we were really close and bonded really well during our tour as instructors and this friendship is something that i really treasured...and i felt that our relationship helped to bring TOCC and AIOCC closer during our times... ONCE ARMOUR, ALWAYS ARMOUR!

All in all...think i have gone thru quite a fair bit during my 2 years...it was eventful to say the least...but i really believe that the ns experience have really benefitted me...and it would benefit most guys...in terms of maturity and growth...rather than skill...it should definitely be enforced! =)

Me and My Driving License!

after 8 mths of driving lessons...weekends spent at BBDC and countless rounds around the Bukit Batok estate...it was finally time to take the Traffic Police Test! hahaz...it was before my trip to Taiwan for training...28th September...a Thursday morning!

was pretty much very nervous then...rushed from camp down to BBDC for the warm-up practice...and it went quite okay...then when it was my turn for the test...was allocated to this white-haired driving instructor that looked very strict...and it began...in a horribly wrong fashion...everything in circuit went okay...until...i forgot to stop at the "STOP" line! argh...i thought 'die die die...finished liaoz...instant failure liaoz...' and was so demoralised to continue onto the road segment...but decided to just do as best as i can...after the road component...went for my de-brief...and what do you know...the examiner consider that as causing obstruction at a road junction and gave me 6 demerit points! in the end...a had 18 demerit points...i PASSED! hahaz...woohoo! on cloud nine!

some may say heng-heng one...but aren't all tests like this...based on luck on...after spending $1600+ on the lessons and test so far...it was over! hahaz...went to get my driving license application done...hahaz...and it was back to work!

now only get to drive my dad's old HONDA CIVIC...the clutch everything quite different from learning model...the new HONDA CITY...but getting a hang of it liaoz...so quite okay...it is a small car...making it quite easy to drive...gradually clocking my mileage to allow me to drive further by mself...hahaz...

hahaz...just to inject some life back into my dead-for-4-months blog...quite an apt title eh? =P

a little update about me first...currently in OCS Delta Wing now...nearing the end of my 14-week Service Term...awaiting to find out my posting for the Professional Term...hoping to get into Armour Infantry(AI)...cos to become a Tank Commander(Tankie)...so need to go thru the AI phase...but School of Armour is at Sungei Gedung...aka Siberia of Singapore...wun think too much larz...next monday will know the posting liaoz...

currently also in my term as the Cadet Wing Commander of Delta Wing now...quite stressed as it is very hard to motivate and move people when the lax attitude has sort of set in on them...but still gotta discharge my duties...haix...thought i escaped after serving earlier as the Cadet Platoon Commander for my platoon...but kena the arrow...took up the challenge...now is to do my job well...

accepted Chemical Engineering in NUS for the academic year of 2007-...also took up the University Scholars Programme...maybe can considering moving into the Prince George's Residence...wahahaz...the very posh hostel...=P...frens are all moving on to studies in NUS/NTU/SMU or continuing with NS...hoping all the best for all of ya!

to tekan or not to tekan

this entry was inspired by benji and his entry on tekan-ing...

well...to set the course straight...most people might say that since i am in the white horse company...sure everything take it easy one...well...

in my J1 year...went through the YL that all my fellow 29th can relate to...was tekaned by 28th for the camp...some of the tekaning was senseless...pure meaningless if i might say...but i dug thru it and survived the camp...and i am proud of that...and i am sure all my fellow 29th are too...

then came J2...different role as an instructor now...the stance that i took to was that not to tekan...at least that was before OH...but after OH...seeing the attitude and lack of discipline from the participants...switched to the stance of tekan for discipline...during YL...we did tekan them a bit...but i did try to reign in the tekaning a bit...

then came army...i have seen specialists and officers tekaning the recruits for nothing...just brainless tekaning...but for my platoon...my ps and pc have a simple stance...do things right and on time...alls well...when things are not done properly and on time...or there is a lack of discipline...they will step in...they have done a lot of verbal reminders and encouragement for self-discipline...to sum it all...they push and pressure...but they dun tekan...

to me...i have never supported tekaning...for J1...can say that i was non-chalant about wad the 28th was doing to us...to me...wad i needed to do was simple...dug hard...pull through and try my best for everyone involved...cos everyone is trying their best...in this hardship that the 28th put us through...bonds were really formed...

ben is right that tekaning do not form bonds...but i must say that in times of hardship, ie thru tekaning, there exist a platform for everyone to support one another...and i feel that it is this support that will form bonds eventually...be it physical support...or just some verbal encouragement...to know that someone is suffering with you and helping you to pull thru...it is sth special and you will be able to relate to that person...so in a way or so...tekaning does form bonds...

wad we did to the 30th in YL last year...tho some may not agree...but i felt that it was justified...to me at least...to me...the trainees were a bunch of students who came to a camp expecting fun and everything to be ready for them...ie wrong mindset...then there was a lack of self-discpline and common bond amongst everyone...so we did step in...the tekan was to set the tone and pace right for the camp...like those in the army...timing is important...simple things like this is representative of oneself and the group as a whole...to quote from my pc...everything we do must have a purpose...and if whatever we do fulfils the purpose...we should just do it whatever the others might say or think...as long as we are accountable to ourselves at the end of the day that we tried to do sth good...to me...we tried our best to change the 30th for the better...even if it had to be tough methods...sure...there were moments during the camp that i felt that certain things were unnecessary...but i did not impose my will on others...just stepped by the side to make sure things dun go out of hand...

for the army...well...experiences differ...and i feel that the discipline that comes from tekan is of zero value compared to self-discipline that is instilled thru other methods...so for me...i dun like to be tekaned for no good reason...but i dun give it a heck and just make sure that i go thru it the best way i can...this is what i believe army life is about...learning and adapting...not going against and lamenting...
